Watch out: no silicone replacement straps with black buckle (carbon versions)

I lost my silicone strap with black buckle on holiday. Subsequently I contacted Garmin to ask for a replacement (to buy) as the shop does not include the black marq strap with black buckle. Answer of Garmin: not sold separately, we’re sorry! As we say in Dutch: I fell of my chair

A few years ago I had the ceramic Apple Watch 3 which had a silicone strap with a ceramic closing. These straps were only sold by Apple when you had the corresponding watch.

This is normal, silicone straps wear over time and you need to be able to buy a replacement.

so now I am stuck. Thanks a lot Garmin, you rock!

  • The marq 1 black belt comes in the box with a black replacement buckle in case you want to have the genuine black buckle. Strange that the black belt on the marq2 doesn't have it.

  • Is nobody shocked by this?! I buy the most expensive watch, even with the outdated specs, and Garmin cannot/want not help me with a replacement strap. I even want to pay the ridiculous prices they charge!

you can be very proud of this!

will keep bumping this message, this is OUTRAGEOUS. Premium watch, my a£&

  • Not to the point, sorry.

  • On top of that: really great software. Not only old, remains full of bugs. Race is planned, watch says: plan race. Useless. when will this be bug free?

  • It's oh so quiet.

Video from dcrainmaker and desfit who make fun of the Marq Damascus Steel. It's rather sad than funny actually.

  • This is a user forum. Rather than venting on here, I'd recommend opening a support ticket.  You're right that they're not on sale in the store, which seems like an omission,  but Garmin do have these.  Another alternative would be to find a local reseller who will be able to order one for you.

Also, if you're so angry that you haven't got the latest gizmos, why did you buy a Marq? Even from the Gen 1, which was released just before the next gen Fenix came out, Marq's have never had the latest hardware.  They have always been about superior materials rather than technical features.  And no, that will never appeal to YouTubers who specialise in geeking out over features and equate them with cost but personally my Marq is perfect for me. It has all the features I need and I appreciate the looks. I also realise that there are other people who just want the latest latest.

  • not that I have to explain myself but it is obvious that my purpose is to inform potential buyers/users about the lack of service/support by Garmin. I do not doubt that this is very useful information. If I had known that I have to undergo this trouble to get a simple spare part that suits the watch I would not have bought this thing. I will withhold from buying Fenix 8. You’re welcome.

ps look at Apple, this is client sentric style & performance:hardware on the ultra straps are synced with natural titanium or black titanium AND available to purchase separately.

  • Support from Garmin Belgium: accessory is not available for separate purchase.

so? I have to buy a regular marq strap with grey buckle? That does not suit my sense of style.

  • This experience leaves a very bad taste. Purchase history:

    Forerunner 305

    forerunner 920xt

    forerunner 620

    swimming watch

    fenix 3

    Fenix 5plus

    marq 1

    fenix 6x

    epix gen 2

    marq 2

    marq 2 carbon

    bunch of straps

    edge 1030 plus

    The end

and then you get this kind of (non) support?! Who are they kidding!

  • Still no solution from Garmin. Very premium customer care, really.
