Total ski distance still wrong after update to v15.76/v15.77

Dear Garmin,

I have been skiing this week and the total ski distance is including lifts. This also ruins my statistics in Strava.

In the Garmin app I can see the ski runs, and the distances. However the total skiruns should represent the total distance in the activity.

The same issue is with the total time of the activity.

I have updatet my Garnin MARQ (Gen 2) watch, powered it off and started it again.

This is not a sollution.

Please Garmin fix this as soon as possible as the skiing season is already started.

- Ski and Snowboard activity details pages for the distance are updated on Garmin Connect web to show the Run Distance instead of the Total Distance.
- Total Ski activity time will remain as the total activity…

I think a mistake is made. Garmin can fit all the needs.

1. if the auto run is on, only skidistance should be in the totals.

2. If the auto run is off, all distance (ski+lift) should be in the totals.

It makes no sense to have the mark on and give all the totals.

I agree this is very frustrating to be in a ski season and all

our statistics are messed up.

Please Garmin fix this as soon as possible.

Garmin - Chris as others have said this makes no sense. Most skiers will wear their watch under layers of clothing/gloves so it is not practical to keep accessing. The inclusion of the Ski Lift distance in auto-run messes up the stats in other systems e.g. Strava, and is non-sensical since skiers care about the distance they actually ski. How can we best feed this back to Garmin, is it via you/forum or other means?

It's hard not to be annoyed if someone tries to make you happy with their ideas by force. And that is exactly what is happening. Have any garmin users asked to include lifts in ski/snowboard activities ? If someone wants to have a recorded time / route up the mountain then there should be a separate profile compatible with this type of activity - it's called Skitour. After all, Garmin could have created a new separate profile: skiing with lifts.
And the best of all, this is happening just as the winter season has started

Thanks Garmin-Chris, what Jorgen_Blom said is perfectly correct.

1.If autorun detect is on only the ski distance should be included in the totals

2. If autorun is off then the whole distance should be recorded

As it is the Northern hemisphere ski season right now there is some urgency to fix this.

Hope it's sorted before my ski trip. (in 1 month)

I confirm the same issue in F7X. Last year it worked correctly, now lifts are included to total distance. I believe it's a bug and will be fixed soon.

I have the same problem with a Garmin Visio 3. Yesterday, it was tracking the runs and lifts correctly, today it was a mess. The distance recorded is actually doubled with respect to reality, and the lift/graph superimposition of the runs/lifts is (very) wrong.

What a disappointment! I have talked with some friends with Garmin watches and this seems a common problem, and for a long time! One last note, skiing tracking shouldn't be rocket science, what kind of convoluted algorithm is behind these problems?

It has no sense. There's no possible logic behind that decision.

Lift distance shouldn't be included into total distance!

I just recommended a Garmin watch to someone that wanted to track his ski activities.

After reading this, I regret my recommendation.

Anyone knows if there is a brand capable of track your total distance skied without the chair lift distance automatically? Maybe coros, suunto?
