I bought the carbon athlete version but decided to return it. Mostly I wanted to see if the weight difference would be noticeable while running. It was a little bit but not as noticeable as wearing a forerunner. I do think the carbon looks better, not because of the carbon itself, which isn't particularly noticeable, but by not having the reflective metal casing. Given the tech is a year old and the difference between what I paid for the carbon vs what i could sell the non carbon for, it just seemed not worth the weight savings and a waste of $. I could buy 3 forerunner 965's for the $ difference and get better/higher resolution screens. I will probably get a carbon version on the next iteration of the Marq if there is one in ~2 years. If Garmin had a favorable trade/upgrade program, maybe I could be swayed back into it now.
