Also missing the must-have feature of Fenix/Epix … the LED flashlight!
That athlete carbon looks tempting, if only they would take a trade in of the Marq 2 … and I’m sure not going to deal with selling on eBay .
Exactly, this is a perverse business model. The watch is already dated lacking the newer hardware/software features so it would be a stupid purchase. Why did Garmin not announce this model with the release of gen 2? Fed up with Garmin.
I hope dcrainmaker does a review on one . I really like to see a hands on or review of this before I decide to sell my Marq 2 titanium.
Is there any difference apart from the case material? I can’t see DCR doing a new review based on that alone if the functionality is identical to the non-carbon models.
Good point , I don’t think anything changed except the material…. I now wonder if the carbon fiber impacts the GPS at all.
As mentioned, I think it's a bit sad that Garmin introduces a new high end watch with "old" electronics.
I guess I'll have to wait for the Marq 3.

Nice Garmin marketing video explaining the materials and engineering needed to bring this material to market (including a bit about wireless)

What a shame that they have released this late into the cycle - if there was a trade in program I would have been interested - but as it now it seems too far into the life cycle of the MARQ 2, as seem worth holding off until the MARQ 3 is released...
I suppose I will wait for the Marq 3, as well.
