Hi
Anyone else noticed the numbers on the inner bezel on the MARQ Captain (Gen 2), makes no sense. No help in manuel either.
They goes like this: 10 - 14 - 16 - 15 - 17 - 19 - 25 - 21 - 19 - 17 - I - 09
@Garmin?

@Garmin?
If these instructions given do not make sense, you are welcome to send me a Private Message and I will be happy to learn more for you but it will take time.
When the MARQ (Gen 2) Captain was released,…
The inner display numbers represent the wind in knots for sailing only. When the color turns from white to turquoise, it represents more ideal conditions to sail. The wind speed for ideal sailing is a setting…
Update: the colors of the numbers on the inside bezel do make sense: when you go into this watch face settings, you can adjust preferred wind speed. The colors pick up this setting. So if you set it to…
Than you. That was most enlightening.
Two follow-up questions:
- Are each section one hour ahead or are all the sections one hour together?
- The numbers - is it knots - Beaufort - ?
Kind regards,
Jan Morten
Can you provide more detail, the numbers range from 7-9, I would assume they're knots, except the complication indicates 14 knots out of the north at the then current time, quite a bit faster than the indications show throughout the day, though it's certainly possible the wind could be 8 knots at 3, 14 at 4, then back to 9 by 5, can you confirm that's what it means?
- The numbers seen around the bezel are intended for when sailing.
- In watch face settings, you can adjust the preferred wind speed. (Thank you Lookbrightside.)
- The speed is in knots.
- The numbers will keep changing as your watch updates the wind report. (As long as your watch is connected to your smartphone through the Connect Mobile APP.)
- When the section turns turquoise, it reflects the preferred wind speeds for sailing based on what you set.
I think we are all having the same questions / confusion around the numbers. This is mine currently. The dial at the bottom says 14 knots north. The data around the bezel says 5 knots currently. The real data currently in my location is 16 East. It would be helpful Garmin gives an official update.
Garmin Chris - in another post, referring to the photo I sent above, you said the arrow pointing North is just cosmetic, it doesn’t mean wind coming from North. That would be surprising and super confusing. Doubt Garmin would do that. Especially since that data field was NOT cosmetic on the MARQ captain gen 1. To be honest, I think there needs to be a bug fix here.
- When the section turns turquoise, it reflects the preferred wind speeds for sailing.
This one does not make much sense to me. For example the 9 knots value is turquoise on the first and second photos below, and gray on the third photo. And 6, 7, and 8 knots are turquoise on the second photo, while gray again on the third image. Why the same speed is once preferred, and later not?
None of it makes sense. In another post, I was told that the arrow on the bottom wind data (data in the wind rose) is cosmetic and always set to North. But then their own marketing photo of the CAPTAIN shows the arrow to SSW (see below). I feel like some of the engineers are just shooting from the hip with replies.
Needless to say, as much as I would like to not admit it, the information I am being given may not be panning out.
I have taken the required steps to get further information. I will update when the information I am being given changes.
Thank you for the questions and examples. I will update when I know more.
Thank you for your transparency and perseverance, Chris!
Thank you everyone's patience while I continue to receive updates on the new features that are not in the manual.
