Garmin is in the process of reviewing reports from users with the fenix 8 experiencing concerns with Golf AutoShot detection after installing version 15 during the beta program, or after receiving the 15.31 public update that released at the end of last week.
Once a fix has been made available I will post here in forums advising as soon as any new information becomes available.
Those experiencing the concern, please post here and I will get your account added to the ticket for the issue.
In the meantime, there are users that have reported a workaround to allow shot detection to work through the following steps:
When at the course, start the round on your fenix 8 > Select the course > Tee Box with the watch displaying hole 1.
(Without ending the round on the watch) Power your watch off, and power back on.
Once your watch reboots, you will see a pop-up appear on-screen asking if you would like to resume, save or discard the round that was started before the watch was powered off > Select "Resume".
Throughout the rest of the round, AutoShot detection should record and measure all full-swing shots as expected throughout the remainder of your golf round.
Repeat steps 1-4 on each round played until Garmin has released the fix for AutoShot.
Before assuming your watch is related to the 15.31 software, be sure to confirm the following is in-practice while golfing to ensure the AutoShot feature will work correctly:
Ensure you are wearing the watch on your lead wrist (left hand if using right-handed clubs) or (right hand if using left-handed clubs) with the watch positioned on top of the wrist and not on the underside.
Also check your watch settings menu on the fenix 8 and confirm User Profile > Wrist > Is set to the correct arm the watch is worn on.
Other factors that affect Autoshot not recording are outlined on our support page linked here: My Garmin Golf Watch Is Not Detecting Shots Automatically

Done all that. Its not rocket science. It worked on 13... Firmware,it doesn't work on 15... Firmware unless I restart the watch once I have started the golf round.
From my end I was advising based on the info initially provided on your post.
Based on the software you mentioned having installed in your reply...you are enrolled in the beta program and test software is installed to your watch if you are on version 15.
Per the agreement with the beta program that you opted in for, beta issues are reported through a different channel here in forums through the link here: https://forums.garmin.com/beta-program/fenix-8-series/fenix-8-family-enduro-3-fenix-e---public-beta-reports/i/public-beta-15-xx

The beta program is a process of test software releases. The timeline of a release resulting in a fix for the concern or response may take some time. You have an outlet where you can revert your software and unenroll from beta or await a response once a member of that team has been able to review your post.
The public section of forums is not dedicated for reports of issues occurring with beta software.
