Compatibility between the Fenix 8 Amoled 51mm and the Approach CT1 sensor pack?

Hi,

Will there be a compatibility between the Fenix 8 AMOLED 51mm and the Approach CT1 sensor pack?
Currently only Approach S70, S44 and S50 watches are compatible with this pack.
I wanted to buy his sensors, but without certainty, I try in vain to find an answer.

Best regards

  • Hi,
Unfortunately not yet. My golf store should receive them in March.
I'm in France, so I think it shouldn't be too long.
As soon as I could test them, I would write my feedback here.

  • Would love to get some official clarity on this. Surely given that the Fenix 8 operates almost the same level of functionality as the S70 does, plus it is a more expensive watch as well too, they would support it. Plenty of golfers would be using the Fenix 8.

  • I'm gonna nip in to American Golf over the weekend to see if they have them in stock and try them.

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't work,I think the only thing the s70 does is keeps multiple scores whereas you can only keep your own score on the Fenix 8,apart from that the golf app is the same.

  • Unfortunately they don’t work with the Fenix 8 (yet?) - I just bought a Fenix 8 51mm and CT1 sensors thinking they’re both the latest models so all should be good. Really really annoyed that they don’t work. I just sold on my Apple Watch Ultra 2 and killed my Arccos subscription to use these. I don’t want the CT10’s, they’re significantly heavier. Not much point paying through the teeth for exotic shafts only to stick 9g counter-weights on the end. I feel like the 2g CT1’s should be less noticeable so I went for those in good faith.

Please Garmin… add support for these!!

  • Seems a bit stupid to me on Garmins part. Not everyone is going to buy the S series watch when they have a perfectly good watch that will do the job with the golf app. You would expect all the high end watches would support all sensors.

  • Is there any plan to add CT1 compatibility to the Fenix 8 AMOLED?

  • There are not any announcements at this time regarding the addition of the CT1 sensor compatibility for any other devices with the Approach S44, S50, and S70 devices still being the only device compatible with pairing to the CT1 sensors.

If anything changes regarding other devices becoming compatible, I will be sure to update inquiring about more compatibility options as any new information becomes available.

  • I greatly appreciate the reply and highly encourage Garmin to re-examine the decision to restrict CT1 compatibility to the Approach series. Garmin is unnecessarily cannibalizing flagship devices which already contain CT1 compatible technology. A simple FW addition is all that is needed and the overwhelming majority of code is likely in existence as CT1 compatibility was recently added to the S70 via a FW upgrade.

In my opinion, CT10s are entirely too bulky to use. While it would be preferred to not have to tap the CT1s before each shot, their size makes up for the inconvenience. But choice is a good thing! Other's will no doubt prefer the simplicity of the CT10s. As a CT1 adopter, I incorrectly assumed the Fenix 8 allowed such a choice to be made.

I'm disappointed to be returning my Fenix 8 47mm Sapphire AMOLED and putting the Approach watch back on my wrist. The sapphire glass would have added peace of mind with each tap of the CT1. Garmin is going to lose more net watch sales than they'll gain in CT10 over CT1 purchases. A perplexing decision that removes preference and choice from the consumer which typically negatively affects the bottom line.

  • I agree with all of this. However I’ve sold my Fenix 8 AMOLED 51mm Titanium now, cancelled my Garmin Golf sub, and I don’t think I’ll be returning to Garmin any time soon. I sold my AWU2 when I switched to Garmin - specifically for golf and longer battery life. This was a farcical experience and someone in Garmin approved an awful awful decision.

I’m really annoyed, as I couldn’t return them as I got the sensors a few weeks after I got the watch and I held off on the return thinking maybe a firmware update would come out seeing as the CT1’s are quite new - how naive of me. I lost a couple of hundred euro having to sell the watch used and the sensors are useless to me now, so I’ll probably have to sell those at a discount now too. Poor effort Garmin. I appreciate the reply above, but it’s been over a month since I posted my query.

  • Sorry to hear all of that, . A truly perplexing decision.
