Fenix 8 Estimated finish time

Hi all. I have added estimated finish time (this seems to be the only relevant option. on the watch) to a data field.

Presumably once it knows distance to end from a gps or on the hoof routing, the watch uses average pace to estimate this?

every time I have gone out and tried this, the display is blank here ie no number are shown under EST FINISH TIME

am I doing something wrong or is this yet another Fenix 8 bug?

ETA is under Navigation Fields and is distinct from estimated finish time. However as I mentioned, the ETA field has issues of it's own as well.

In Garmin Connect under "Routing" for your activity, what is your setting for "Courses"? If it's not "Follow Course", try changing to that.

Try pushing the start button one more time. So one can replicate what you are describing by selecting an activity and then swiping left on the touch screen. It will show the starting data screen but will not have actually started the activity.

Hi Mark. Apologies, I dont follow. You mean select an activity eg Hike, NOT start it but swipe left? As far as I know there is no swipe left. I can scroll down and select activity options before starting

Hi - yes, absolutely. Out running or hiking and then ask the watch to navigate back to the start. It displays a route as it should but the EFT is as shown in the image above

Maybe look at the Navigation Data Fields (can find in the owner's manual/Appendix) like ETA and ETE.

Apologies - I wasn't as clear as I could have been. I am speculating that the activity has not actually started. So from the screen you are on in your example, just try pressing the start button one more time to confirm or refute this. Before the activity starts, one can swipe left and get the starting screen but that doesn't actually start the activity for example.

Hi Mark. The activity has started. The last occasion this happened I was mid long hike (with the activity running) and then asked the watch to navigate me back to start. It displayed the route in the normal way with the normal turn alerts etc BUT the estimated finish time data field remained blank
