Massive battery drain after activity with version 11.89

This was listed as fixed in the release notes and I had never experienced this before. After an hour GPS activity, the watch didn't sync but I had not cell service and thought it had something to do with that. An hour or so later I looked at the battery percentage and it had dropped 30% doing nothing other than normal daily wear activities!

I restarted the watch, and it finally did sync and stopped the massive drain. It's obvious that this major bug was not fixed as listed.

This rollout has got to be the worst I've seen with Garmin and I've owned the Fenix 3HR, 5, 6, and 7!

Based on my near 3 weeks test, 4 activities each one took 1 or 2 hrs (including 3 times Strength training 1hr w/o GPS, and 1 time 2hr paddling in open water w/ GPS ) per week. After paddling and stop logging activity, then battery usage starts increasing. I am not expecting how many days it can stand by as watch. I have Fenix 5, even I did the same weekly activities, Fenix 5 had never drained the battery like Fenix 8...

So for those who asked if I contacted Garmin support, here's their response, which I actually expected and doesn't surprise me. No direct solution. "Hello, yes, it's likely to be a software issue. We have it reported by multiple users. Currently, the ticket is in the phase where the cause of the problem is being investigated, and hopefully, the problem should be fixed in future updates. If it isn't, then it would more likely be a hardware problem, and in that case, it would need to be addressed through a warranty claim for the device."

I’ve not noticed this until now but I charged to 100% last night, not noticed any battery drop today but just checked now and it’s at 61% out of nowhere! I did about a half hour walk earlier and no other gps use, no aod. It lasted a week before my last charge with two 4-hour gps uses and daily 30-60 mins gps use. Something not right!

It seems as though the GPS is not disconnecting after a GPS activity. If restarting the watch corrects it, why not start a non GPS activity to disconnect the GPS. Not an ideal solution but, a work around until an update is sent.

11.89 here. Same 10-15% daily battery drain with minimal GPS use.

Not sure if that is correct because I have the drain after a Strength work out as well.

Received the watch this morning, everything is working flawlessly but the battery drain it's present. 6 hours of use 30 min of run with gps already lost 8%.

Due the amount of people having this issue, i hoping that's software issue...

I bought F8 a month ago and got all the updates up to 11.89. So far, I have been using daily for workouts, sleep tracking and golfing. I have no experienced of battery drain. I got 14 days of battery usage with AOD off. It's been working very well for what I'm using. I hope the Map rendering is faster.
