Massive battery drain after activity with version 11.89

This was listed as fixed in the release notes and I had never experienced this before. After an hour GPS activity, the watch didn't sync but I had not cell service and thought it had something to do with that.  An hour or so later I looked at the battery percentage and it had dropped 30% doing nothing other than normal daily wear activities!

I restarted the watch, and it finally did sync and stopped the massive drain.  It's obvious that this major bug was not fixed as listed.

This rollout has got to be the worst I've seen with Garmin and I've owned   the Fenix 3HR, 5, 6, and 7!

Sorry, skipped the step where I had to enter my Fenix 8's serial number to get allowance to access to this forum. Especially since this is a Garmin user forum to exchange thoughts, experiences... and experience is that there is something wrong with battery consumption across the whole range

  • Well, just call support if you imagine those problems. If they exist they will help you. Don't worry, it's a great watch.

But you already posted (emphasis mine):

I did, too, so much that I ordered an Fenix 8 Solar even before the live Event started. But due to delays I had the chance to observe the quality situation here in forums and it got me so far to cancel the order.

From which we can conclude that since you cancelled your fenix 8 Solar order, you do not (and never have) owned a fenix 8 Series watch.

    So...

All your opinions about what may or may not be "something wrong" with the fenix 8 is simply hearsay - not anything based on personal experience.  You are simply amplifying the opinions of others which may or may not be valid.

To extrapolate from that "...that there is something wrong with battery consumption across the whole range" is just nonsense.

  • But it's a global problem, and whoever doesn't want to admit it is just lying to themselves. If my battery drains 10-15% per day in smartwatch mode, then something is wrong. This happens most often after ending an activity. Many users here who use the watch just like me agree on this, and it's not their first experience with Garmin. I currently have a Fenix 8 51mm Solar, and before that, I owned an Enduro 3 and Fenix 7X, where everything was completely fine. Why would we be writing about a problem here if there wasn't one? A watch costing $1300 should work at least as described in the specifications they boast about, and it definitely shouldn't be worse than previous series.

  • But it's a global problem, and whoever doesn't want to admit it is just lying to themselves

No it’s not because I also don’t have a problem.

my battery drains 10-15% per day in smartwatch mode, then something is wrong.

That’s quite likely in your case and for those others who are reporting a problem. So, ensure you contact, and work with, Garmin Support for a resolution.

But it only takes a quick through the forums to find that others would disagree. So, as is often the case more often than not, most problems are not global but affect some and not others. Accept it.

  • Exactly, it's a problem of a few users. So just call support. Have you done that already?

  • How many people who called for support did this help? Please contact us here.

    • I think there is still no result.
  • Because they didn't call support and asked for help?

  • Are you trying to tell me that there's someone here who called support with this problem and received advice on how to fix it? If such a person exists, please speak up and tell us all what advice they received and if it helped them.

  • Well, simple question:

Have you tried calling support and asked for help?
