Fenix 8 AMOLED frozen on blue triangle

During the middle of my 160km race last weekend, my watch bricked — I am furious! Here I am, 5 days later, and all I see is the blue triangle of death.  It comes and goes — either I see a black screen or the blue triangle.  I can’t turn the watch off to reboot — it simply pops up with the blue triangle again.  I’ve tried to reset, but it never beeps when holding the three buttons — it only shows the blue triangle. Please advise.  I am beyond frustrated at this point.

  • OMG!!!!! It worked!!!!! With the official Garmin troubleshooting (such as above), I never managed to get any response from my bricked watch — no beeps, no turning on, no turning off, only the blue triangle.  But your desperate and accidental troubleshooting method worked BRILLIANTLY.  Everything is reloaded to factory settings and Garmin Connect walked me through the set up. Fingers crossed this solves the problem for the long term and it doesn‘t brick again.  But thank you, thank you for getting me to this point.  It‘s the most hope I‘ve had in weeks. :-)

  • Feel you bro.

But is this really the reaction you would expect from a person who buyed a 1000 bucks expensive watch that has issues to the moon and back month after launch? I would send it back and take my money (which I did with my E3).

Quality is when the customer comes back. Not the product.

  • I'm happy I was able to help. I know the frustration :Rofl)) Immediately after it restarted I went to updates Watch Settings/System/Software Update  and I updated to version 11.90. Absolutely no more problems after that. Before on version 11.89 it was crashing and rebooting a couple of times per day.

  • I had exactly the same issue this weekend. I had previously set the alarm to inform me about weak battery during activity. This alarm never rised... Therefore, my watch had been out of power and I could never restart it even after having powered it during more than 1 hour and followed the "procedure" to revive it. It keeps booting cyclically around the blue triangle.

I am very surprised of these kind of bugs gaving an nightmared experience to users. I am so disappointed on Garmin for that, knowing this bug is present from months now (my fenix 8 watch was up to date).

Now I am waiting the support to give me information to send it back to Garmin for a replacement ...

  • Thanks a lot, your solution worked for me

  • Thank you, Pal! Your advice worked really well for me! I was frustrated trying to fix it, and by coincidence, I came across your tips in this group. Once again, thank you!
