Auto Key Lock During Activity

The Fenix 8 seems to be missing the “Auto Key Lock” during activity. There is a screen lock, but not the keys.

I used this for all activities on my Fenix 7 to avoid accidentally stopping/pausing/lapping during an activity.

I’ve checked the manual and searched - have I just not found it, or is it missing?

  • I just got the Fenix 8, have tested it for a few CrossFit workout. It did not work well as I wear grips on my wrist and they will press and hold the start/stop button. Hence, my workout recording was stopped and started multiple times, although I have assigned the down key to lock/unlock. Unfortunately all keys can unlock, not just the assigned lock key. This is a dealbreaker for sure, for me the watch is unusable for CrossFit and I will sell it - how disappointing Dizzy faceDizzy

  • ya i had the same problem. for some reason, it's not simple option in settings. just set the shortcut and lock the device... which locks both keys and touch screen

  • Description:
Another activity was disrupted because the buttons do not auto-lock during activities, unlike on previous Fenix models. I’m aware that manual locking is an option, but it’s easy to forget—especially when under time pressure.

    Request:
Could the automatic button lock during activities please be reintroduced on the Fenix 8? This feature was incredibly helpful on older models and would greatly improve usability.

Thank you for considering this improvement!

    Best regards,
    Andy

  • Further to my post above regarding manual locking, I actually managed to manually unlock the watch during an activity (surfing) a couple weeks back, and start a different sport! I guess bending the wrists popping up did it or something but really shows the need for this feature.

  • Garmin please bring back Autolock.  Yes I have the shortcut but may not remember to do it every time.  must be an Activity option for all activities.  Please NOW.

  • Please bring back this function with the next software update.  PLEASE NOW.
