  • Also Sleep Detection works all the time wheather you asleep day or night.

An information for shift workers : Garmin records only ONE sleep per day.

Any sleep period longer than 3 hours will DELETE the previous sleep. Thats by design.

…“If any sleep period extends to three hours, the watch will begin tracking new sleep statistics.“…

  • Sleep Detection works all the time wheather you asleep day or night.

    One example :

You come home from the night shift in the morning and go to sleep. Then you get up at lunchtime because you have to get the child from school. Since you don't have to go back to work until the evening, you go back to sleep.

If you now sleep longer than 3 hours, ONLY this new sleep is counted.

The sleep you had in the morning will be DELETED!

This is the behavior of the sleep recording carried out by Garmin so far.

This is just one example. There are certainly several other constellations in which shift workers sleep twice a day (or at night).

  • I don't do any of that...

I get home and go to bed at 07:30, and get up around 15:00......

and my 7s could go DAYS without recording a single session of sleep, not even a nap.

This is all good and valid points, but I think we are getting off the actual topic of this thread/complaint

We want the option of disabling the Sleep Schedule.

I don't think so. Even if it doesn't affect you, there are certainly many people who have the problem that ANY sleep longer than 3 hours DELETES the previous sleep. This is an intentional behavior of sleep detection by Garmlin. There are several now locked threads about this.
Even if you didn't have to set a sleep window, this behavior still exists.

My tactix 7 pro (fenix 7x) has no problems with this. I haven't worked a shift for years and my sleep tracking is very accurate. Almost to the minute. Naps are also well recognized.

  • not even a nap.

    i had a 32 minute nap yesterday afternoon :

Do you know that naps are not found in the sleep statistics, but in the body battery?
Is your personal data stored correctly in Connect? Maximum heart rate, resting heart rate? Do you wear the watch 24/7 ? What kind of wristband are you using ? Metal bracelets are often too loose. The HR sensor must have good contact with the skin, the wristband should be tight enough so that you don't see the green lights of the sensor when you sleep. However, the bracelet should also not cut off blood circulation. The watch, the sensor must not rest on the bone of the wrist, but about 2 fingers away from it, slightly higher on the arm.

Yes, I am aware of that. no naps recorded on my 7s, my 8 has the nap bug... somehow, without napping, I have 4,000,000,000+ minutes of napping, in spite of every day I have worn it, I have not napped.

    Yes and Yes

Do you wear the watch 24/7 ?

23 hours and 40 minutes a day, I won't wear it in the shower, I get the dreaded wrist rash if I do.

What kind of wristband are you using ?

The silicone kind that came with my 7s and or 8

Metal bracelets are often too loose. The HR sensor must have good contact with the skin,

Nope, don't wear those with my garmin. Too loose, and the sensor doesn't make contact with my skin.

Well aware of this, and that's how I wear it. Remember, it records sleep at night just fine. It's only day sleeping that doesn't record.

  • Would still love a feature to fix this.
put my sleep schedule from 21:00 to 21:01 and sleep gets tracked ok. Also during the day.

but when sleeping somehow sleep focus gets turned off automatically during sleep somehow and have to be put back into sleep mode multiple times during my sleep.

  • To Ad a note on this topic.

I spoke to Dan from Garmin today for over 2hrs and along with 3 other feature requests this will l hopefully be added in a future software update. Along with Screen Time Out Lengths, Adaptive Auto Screen Disply Brightness and Sleep Detection Screen Time Out. Hopefully these are updated soon as alot of you are asking for these things for years. Ill try and keep you all posted on these updates.

Hi Natas, any news about this? Has been months since your post and was released several firmware updates. Thank you!
