I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. You may consider connecting this with Garmin Express to check for software updates. Updates for the new watch have been being released nearly daily. Garmin Express

fenix 8 51mm AMOLED. OS version: 11.59. Location: USA ( mid Atlantic ). ECG setup fails. In Connect ( on Android phone ) attempt to setup ECG while outside in an open area, searches for GPS. then Connect reports 'An error has occurred'. Garmin Express reports everything is up to date. Multiple updates have installed throughout the day.

Have been using ECG for months on my Fenix 7X Pro.
Thank you Garmin. Apparently Garmin did some magic to get ECG working. That was the final peice I needed to make the fenix 8 my goto machine companion.
I just got my Fenix 8. I was looking for ECG feature and could see anything option. Thank you for this post, ECG is now working.

Hello BBK yes, i believe its because i dont live in the US ans that I dont know how to ensure my Connect app location is set to US….I guess I’ll wait until ECG is approved in Europe (the same as it is for the Apple Watch).
