Route calculation error

Hi, when I want to navigate during walk or hike back to start point (to calculate a new route), it always writes that there is missing routeable road in this area and that the map does not allows to calculate a route, but it worked before on these places. No matter which map is on or off. Issue started with probably sw18.16, remains with 19.24.

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. For a route calculation error, there are a few things we would recommend trying.

First, we would recommend reinstalling the mapping using Garmin Express. How Do I Reinstall the Basemap for My Garmin Wearable or Edge Device?
Try you navigation to different locations, in case the "Route Calculation" error is isolated to a specific location on the mapping.
I would also recommend trying a hard reset. For this, hold the Light button until the watch shuts off, as opposed to selecting power off. Then power on and test this again.
If this issue continues, I would recommend contacting Garmin Product Support.

Hi Andre, did you do a hard reset? Did it help? I have the same problem with an error popping up when navigating to the start or another point from the map. I've had the watch for almost two years, and this problem appeared for me around September. Doing a hard reset scares me a bit that I'll lose everything from the watch.

Hi, I tried to reinstall maps, then on bike run navigation back to start and it worked but I was on the road and had bike activity. When I was facing to that issue with navigation, I had a walk activity and was in mountains, so I need to check it once more.

I used this option often, also in forests and mountains and it always worked. now it doesn't work even in the city.

I am sorry to hear this is still occurring. If reinstalling the mapping has not resolved this, I would recommend trying a factory reset with these steps:

Ensure the watch is powered off.
- You may need to hold LIGHTfor up to 30 seconds to turn the watch off.
Press and hold BACK and START/STOP.
Press LIGHT to power the watch on while holding these two buttons.
After the first beep release START/STOP.
After the second beep release the remaining button.

If there is no change, I would recommend contacting Garmin Product support.

Same problem here - problem started with 18.16 (fenix 7 pro, 18.16). The issue occurs even on 3rd party map which worked fine before. The routing used to be one of the unique selling points for the fenix... and now that feature is practically unusable and no longer reliable.

I haven't discovered any systematics yet. It works quite erratically. however, it often doesn't seem to work for smaller paths (a pure guess: are smaller paths newly excluded for routing?). If I remember correctly (maybe I'm wrong) the routing used to work from locations without a path - in this case the shortest direct line to the next path was routed - that doesn't seem to work anymore.

After disabling popularity routing (for each activity type) routing seems for now to work again flawlessly - as before.

Ok, but it means that there is a bug in software since it was working well but now it does not work in case you do not set / switch on or off something...
