What features does the Fenix 9 need to have to make you upgrade?

Since the release of the Fenix 8 is imminent close and the related feature discussion is closed, let's start over:

Hey everyone, with the Fenix 9 takes a glimpse far, far away on the horizon, I'm curious—what would make you excited enough to upgrade? Whether it's better sensors, longer battery life, or some totally new feature we haven't seen before, what would make the next Fenix irresistible for you? Let's get a discussion going and share our wishlists for what we hope to see in the next generation!

Please also take the point in time with a good sense of humor, we're in a user forum to share thoughts and also have fun, right?

  • Rest timer exists, but strangely enough only in Ultra Run activity. But other than that Ultra Run is no different from a regular Run activity, so you could use it for your track workouts.

The way it works is that when you hit the lap button the rest timer pops up on the screen and starts elapsing. When you hit the lap button again the rest timer disappears. The activity doesn't actually stops, but then at the end you have a rest lap recorded.

  • Fun fact:

People here in Hungary used Garmin handhelds  with external wired antenna mounted on their caps/backpacks while  they were tracking  (surveying?) forest roads and paths  in the period of appr. 2005-2010.

I also had an outer antenna for my 60csx, but never used while hiking. But  I put this magneted antenna on the roof of my car while I was driving along all the streets of various cities and villages with the purpose of logging all the roads.

Thus we logged quite accurate tracks and were able to draw an accurate map. This was a standalone country map and its data later were migrated to OSM .

As an extra I threw the antenna to the very top of the roof of our condominium and used it for a day long measure of the elevation of that point (60csx had an averaging function). From that elevation I simply subtracted the exact height of the building and added 1 m and so  I knew the wuite accurate elevation of the starting point of my bicycle rides.

  • Lighter color models (white or off-white) with larger faces. Fenix 8 only seems to sell those in 43mm from what I can see.

  • Cześć, ja mam najwyższy model Feniksa 7 i myślałem o 8 ze względu na rozszerzone aktywności do nurkowania . Jednak to zbyt mało żeby wydać tyle kasy .

    1. True cellular like Apple. I know not everyone wants it or is willing to deal with battery not lasting as long. But I think there is a ton that will… hence apple. Apples fitness metrics are garbage compared to Garmin. My watch is pretty newish still so I will probably never upgrade unless they make that change. By the time my watch actually dies I guess Ill see if apples metrics caught up. Its really frustrating to see they don't want to budge on this huge topic that so many ask for and have so many safety aspects not just for me but for others. Yeah I may not have an emergency but what if my kid does. I need to know. If they do make this upgrade I would of pre ordered instantly even had I just bought my watch.
  • LTE , I'm still rocking Forerunner LTE  and will never upgrade until another LTE version or either a forerunner or Fenix comes out.

  • Not buying garmin - the software plagued with issues at this price point is ridiculous. Whatever features could be there, they won't be working properly - garmin proved it to it's loyal customers.
