What features does the Fenix 9 need to have to make you upgrade?

Since the release of the Fenix 8 is imminent close and the related feature discussion is closed, let's start over:

Hey everyone, with the Fenix 9 takes a glimpse far, far away on the horizon, I'm curious—what would make you excited enough to upgrade? Whether it's better sensors, longer battery life, or some totally new feature we haven't seen before, what would make the next Fenix irresistible for you? Let's get a discussion going and share our wishlists for what we hope to see in the next generation!

Please also take the point in time with a good sense of humor, we're in a user forum to share thoughts and also have fun, right?

  • Stable firmware and non-breaking updates, in all honesty, a pipedream I know. And MIP, the "stealth mode" from D2, longer battery life (interchangeable as per EU regulations from 2027?) and also a green led in the flashlight.

  • Stable firmware and non-breaking updates, in all honesty a pipedream I know. And MIP, the "stealth mode" from D2, longer battery life (interchangeable as per EU regulations from 2027?) and also a green led in the flashlight. Incremental, maybe AI-powered, updates in sleeptracking would really be useful.

  • I want larger screens: 1.5’’ (51 mm) and 1.4’’ (47 mm) for Amoled and MIP displays.

LTE mode ( e-sim) : I don’t want to carry a phone during running, trail running, hiking, or swimming in open water and pools.

    A new 6th-generation optical sensor.

New sports metrics: nothing new was introduced in the Fenix 8.

The device’s thickness is too large; Garmin, reduce the thickness to 12 mm.

    InReach SOS (with subscription).

  • LTE,

    Glucose sensor,

    iOS musiIc

bigger screen but not increasing helmet size. (For the 51 mm) Maybe reducing outer ring.

basic apps compatibility, like WhatsApp, message reply capability,

    blood pressure sensor,

    electrocRdiogram

  • Fix the tech debt. Start over and redo the system software completely.

I want far FEWER features. I would love a watch that is just really good at its core job. Garmin's strength has been its GPS, so keep the great GPS, and then get the HR and sleep sensing as good as possible in a small number of more general modes (maybe rest, steady activity, and interval activity which would be higher power to detect more frequent/drastic HR changes).

I don't need dozens of half-baked activities or highly inaccurate estimates of calories, etc that get even worse as the source data quality keeps degrading from overengineering.

I just want a simple watch that is truely multi-sport because it still works when you use it during multiple sports.

  • * wireless charging

    * recalculation of route without phone if I go off course

    * record bike jumps same as garmin edge is :-)

  • It already recalculates the route without the phone, however you need to make the route on the watch too.
Bike jumps thing may be hard as you can jump your arm instead of the bike. :D

  • They already started over with interface design of Fenix 8, and you can see where they're atm. I'm not sude they'll handle rebuilding everything again. :)
