Delete Golf Maps

Just got my F7X SS, Its fantastic but I am trying to delete maps I don't want.

GE wont let me delete the golf maps. !!! Why not ?, it says these are needed for the device to operate correctly ?.

What rubbish, I dont play golf, never will so WTF do I need gold maps on the watch.

Come on Garmin, why do I need golf maps on my watch !!!!!

Despite of the harsh tone you used I believe your concern is understandable as not everyone is playing golf. Others might read your comment/question that could result in providing you with the answer you're looking for. Stay tuned.

Hi I just get annoyed by the manufacturer enforcing that I waste space on my watch for maps I do not need or want and have no bearing on the the watch operation.

But apart from that very impressed with the watch so far 1 hour into setting it up, coming from a F6X Sapphire, the mapping and being able to move it around with the touch screen is a game changer.

I would like to get a better understanding of what maps are on my 7x SS. I would also like to delete the golf and ski maps. 5 years ago, I purchased two sets of 24K topo map US (North Central and South Central) that were 100 dollars per SD card.

I assume I can load those, but are those already loaded? Garmin sells 6 regions that are 24K topo maps at 100 bucks each. What size top maps are loaded in the 7X SS? The two SD cards I bought were in 2015. If I load them will Garmin update them if there are updates?

And you also try to configure online Activity data fields during the activity itself! It's just super!)

A little more data I dug up today. The 7X SS comes with Ski View, which I deleted quickly, and Gold Course view that covers Europe, Pacific, ME, Africa and Americas. The Ski View deleted easily but the golf view does not delete and that is 1.1 GB of data. I tried to delete both in the watch, on the phone on Connect and on the computer on Garmin Express. No can do.

Here is an article explaining F5 & F6 maps and how to delete them. Maybe it works on F7 same way...

I can see the map files on My F7X with Android File Manager on my Mac, but I have not identified which files are Golf maps, so I have not tried to delete anything yet...
