Following the installation of firmware version 28.2 on my Fenix 6 Pro, I am now experiencing critical battery performance degradation — from previously lasting approximately one week per charge to now discharging within a matter of hours. This issue appears to be widespread and is affecting multiple users across various Fenix models, as evidenced by numerous forum reports.
In my case, this malfunction began immediately after the firmware update and persists despite attempted troubleshooting steps, including soft/hard resets and firmware reinstallation. This strongly suggests the issue lies within the update itself rather than hardware or user configuration.
Of additional concern is the fact that a direct message thread I had with Garmin-Laurie regarding this issue — which included what appeared to be an internal acknowledgement of the problem — has since been deleted without notice. The deletion of this correspondence raises serious questions regarding transparency and customer support protocols.
Given the severity of the issue and the apparent scope of affected users, I am formally requesting:
-
A public acknowledgment from Garmin regarding the battery drain issue introduced in version 28.2.
-
A clear and detailed explanation of the root cause (or suspected cause) of the fault.
-
A committed and time-bound roadmap for the release of a corrective firmware update.
-
Clarity on why direct communication regarding this matter was removed from the platform.
As a long-time Garmin customer who has invested in what is marketed as a premium, reliable device, I find the current situation unacceptable. I urge Garmin to treat this with the seriousness it warrants and to provide prompt and transparent communication moving forward.
