Skiing AutoRun counts lifts as ski runs and vice versa, also average speed gives totally bogus results

I have a Fenix 6x and in the current software version (27.00) the skiing activity confuses ski runs and lifts, thus also giving totally nonsense data for speed. Since the lift runs are falsly recognized as ski runs, the speed of riding the lift is also tracked as speed, which in turn falsifies the average speed as well as the average speed in motion. In the pictures attached you can see how the lifts are schown as ski runs, also you can see the speed tracking with lift runs included. I've also attached a pic of a skiing activity from last year with an older software version, there the lift runs are not tracked in the speed.

Here for comparison the speed data from last year with old software version:

It would be really great, if you could bring the heat map of the speed on the map back!

  • it is correct. this problem has been going on for a year now i think. last year i skied with 26 and it was perfect. the changed came in a beta and stuck with 27. the same issue arises with the Fenix 7 and 8. at least with the 6 you could downgrade back to 26 but not sure what kind of fixes you will lose. i assume nobody skies at garmin.

  • At least those responsible for this activity are not skiing that much I presume. Otherwise they would have recognized that it peoduces mostly unuseful and erronous data.

  • the skiing activity confuses ski runs and lifts

This is an old display bug in the Connect App. Check the map in the browser in GC Web, the lift/run separation on the map will look much better.

the speed of riding the lift is also tracked as speed, which in turn falsifies the average speed as well as the average speed in motion.

Average speed (in motion) should only be calculated for runs. The problem is that the run detection is bad. It counts queues and maybe even some seconds on the lift (but not the full lift ride) to the run. So average speeds are nonsense. But in my experience, this was always the case, not only on the last firmware. The difference you see on the speed graph is because it now does not pause during lifts, but it still separates runs and lifts (well, kind of...)

would be really great, if you could bring the heat map of the speed on the map back!

It is still there! Tap the map layers button on the top right and select "Speed" at the bottom.
