What activities are not included in training status / acute load?

Hi team,

I have Rouvy which is linked to Strava. I also have Garmin connect which is linked to Strava.

If I link Rouvy to Garmin, then it'd duplicate things twice.

I have to manually import the Rouvy rides to Garmin; which works fine (export original from Strava) and it recognises as Rouvy etc. with all correct details. It is flagged as a virtual ride.

I do big days on indoor / virtual ride trainer; and I noticed that its showing I have low load etc. and I noticed all my virtual rides weren't counting at all...

How do I fix this? Does syncing directly to Garmin fix it? Is it virtual ride itself that doesn't count? I see some posts about Zwift not counting?

It should not. The documentations at Sync Activities With Third-Party Websites states:

Garmin Connect will not forward data that has been received from one third-party fitness website on to another third-party website that is also linked to your Garmin Connect account. This aligns with the policies of other third-party services and helps to prevent duplicate data from occurring across accounts.

Correctly linked accounts of select certified 3rd party apps do indeed affect the Training Status. |It includes Rouvy, and Zwift. However you have to sync your Garmin devices (twice), after having synced the 3rd party data, in order to post-process it.

See also the documentation at What Is the Training Status Feature on My Garmin Device?

Do Activities Recorded With Other Apps Count Towards Training Status?

Qualifying activities from the following apps can contribute towards your Training Status:

    • Tacx Training App
      • Tacx apps are not third-party as they are part of the Garmin ecosystem.
    • Zwift
    • TrainerRoad
    • ROUVY

For your Training Status to update from a supported fitness app, you must also meet these requirements:

The app must be linked to your Garmin Connect account.

You must have a Training Status capable device that you are actively recording running or cycling activities with. If you remove your compatible device from Garmin Connect, you will not receive Training Status data from a third-party or Tacx app activity.

Physio TrueUp must be enabled on your Garmin device (see What is Physio TrueUp?).

To process Training Status data from the fitness app recorded activity, Garmin Connect must sync the activity data with your device. To accomplish this, your device must be powered on and fully synced to ensure all data has been processed and your Training Status is up to date. If using an Edge device, you must sync your device twice for an updated Training Status to display in Garmin Connect.

Ok, so I need to re-link to Garmin with Rouvy.

Is there a way to make it manually count? Uploading manually in any way?

And it needs to be synced twice to come across? Shoudl be only once for garmin fenix 6S pro sapphire?

Not sure why you want to make it more complicated than necessary, but you can try uploading the FIT file of the activity over the USB cable directly into the folder //GARMIN/NewFiles/ on the watch. No guarantee it will really work in the same way as when linked automatically, but may be worth of trying.

And it needs to be synced twice to come across?

Yes, once to get the activity on the watch for the postprocessing, and the second time to get the processed file into Garmin Connect. However, minimally one of the syncs usually happens automatically, so the manual syncing may not be always necessary. Just in case you see the activity did not come through.

  • I have a similar situation to you except I use Zwift. I have connections between Zwift and Strava, Zwift and Garmin, and between Garmin and Strava. Indoor rides are generated exclusively on Zwift with no Garmin activity actively recorded.. Zwift sends the data to both Garmin and Strava and the all of normal metrics with the the exception of TSS/IFF are generated without any conscious input from me. No duplication of data occurs.

Was more that its not currently counting and I did the work, and want it to - re: rely heavily on load and training status etc. Its saying I'm in recovery atm, when missed a massive chunk on Thursday.

Trying to see how I can make sure it is there long term.

  • Hi. I have similar set-up (Zwift Ride with Wahoo Core, Strava and Garmin Fenix 7X). The apps are connected. Data is transferred automatically from Zwift to Strava and Garmin Connect. The rides are there, the intensity minutes are there, the "cycling capability" on my watch is updated, the categorization of anaerobic and aerobic is updated. BUT: my endurance keeps dropping - that's the only value that apparently is ignored. What about yours?

    Unfortunately didn't work.

    Syncing Garmin does now.

  • What about training effect for virtual rides?

I did two massive sessions on Wednesday - blank.

The are present in activates and synced from Rouvy directly.

Rouvy does indeed sync the Training Status with Garmin. You have to sync your Garmin device twice, after having completed the Rouvy ride and have it synced to Garmin:

What Is the Training Status Feature on My Garmin Device? | Garmin Customer Support

If that alone does not help, then I suggest reaching out to the Support of Rouvy and/or Garmin.

  • Hmmm, Rouvy doesn't go through garmin / use a garmin device though?

How to sync the Wahoo trainer twice? I guess see if next upload, updates it?
