Critical battery mode.. new? Or..

I have never seen this in 4yrs of owning. I know last I checked it was 7% and at 5% it must of gone to battery saver mode... then 4hrs ago the battery saver watch face changed to display time and low battery bar at the bottom. All button functions disabled!!! Clicking any button and the battery symbol changes to diaplay "Critical" word. Noticed HR sensor not on anymore. (I have it on in battery saver mode).

I cut it short and connected to charger. It held 1% until it displayed 6% and started up (didn't catch the switch) to normal custom watch face, button functions returned, hr on.

Wild but cool. I guess I always charged my watch before it got that low to hit this function.. or... ???

Nice feature.

Nevertheless I avoid letting my Li-ion battery powered devices get below 20% charge. Below that, especially below 10% puts a lot of strain on the battery and can shorten its life. (Same for charging over 80%.)

When I go outdoors for extended periods of time, especially when using a GPS activity, I carry a small (5,000mAh) power bank and a short third-party charging cable or adapter like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007210507968.html
