Dear Garmin Community, my Garmin Fenix 6 "QuickFit" Watch Band had become extremely worn & damaged from years of heavy usage. Additionally, the notches on the silicon band were broken so I could not sufficiently tighten my wrist band. The QuickFit release springs on each side were also so corroded that they were locked solid & would not detach from the watch's 2 stainless steel pins.
I was able to use a flat head screw driver & basically (and carefully) pry open the release mechanism from the stainless steel pin on each side without damaging the pin or the watch itself. Consequently, the silicon wrist bands were both damaged in the process although the wrist band was beyond it's useful life anyhow & in need of replacement.
I did not have to take the watch to a jeweler or risk soaking it in chemicals to try to remove the old watch band.
The watch itself still works great & I was able buy a replacement QuickFit watch band online. The new QuickFit band works great & no issues at all!
I would recommend periodically changing the Watch Band to prevent the release springs from corroding.
