Does anyone know when the Fenix 6 is getting all the Fenix 8 features??

I've had this watch for four years now and I can't understand why the Fenix 8 gets new features while the Fenix 6 doesn't get anything new????

Shame on You Garmin!!!

(Yes, this is a joke. Yes, I am mocking all those "When will the Fenix 6 get fenix 7" posts we had to put up with)

  • Didn't they say at the live event for the fenix 8 that you can send the fenix 6 to service to have the new "leakproof“ buttons installed?

    ;)  lol

  • No-one expects the Fenix6 to have Fenix8 features.

However I think it's completely reasonable to demand Garmin fix the showstopper bugs in existing Fenix6 features for YEARS now before they completely shut it down and close this forum.

Pretty sure some critical developers quit during the past few years, it sure seems like it.

The bugs when using the HRM-PRO (and HRM-TRI) are absolutely infuriating, for all I know the same bugs exist on the Fenix7 and Fenix8

One thing is for sure, this will be my last Garmin after several the past decade, the pricetag is just not worth it anymore if it's going to be this unstable.

  • we undertsand your joke, and it's a good one :-)

    Garmin Fix It !!!

    ---

Suunto Race (S) - what a good device for the price

Coros Pace 3 - what a good device for the price

Coros Vertix 2S - update model, without price increase ;-)

  • I was seriously looking at the Pace 2 because it supports ANT+ and they removed that for 3, a $150 watch is very tempting given how every brand seems to fail after a year or two.

But you know what is also interesting if we could get Wahoo to release the source for the watch is that Wahoo discontinued the Rival and it has ANT+ support, it is a $100 watch now, almost disposable every few years unlike a $1000 Fenix8 or $500 Fenix6 (I think I paid $300 for my Fenix)

Now if Garmin would release the source and open it for 3rd party development a few generations back, that would cement Garmin loyalty.

Imagine if Fenix5 source and built tools were released to developers to see what they could do to the watch and features and then Garmin would be able to incorporate the ideas into a future model.

Android had CyanogenMod and now LineageOS

Garmin should allow such a development for their much older models that they have discontinued.

I do know one thing for sure, I will never buy a metal case Garmin watch ever again, the GPS and radio receiver in general absolutely sucks. The Fenix5 and the Fenix6 both have horrible GPS reception.

I don't expect the Fenix6 to be fixed anymore.

But I absolutely demand Gamin fix the HRM-Pro-Plus behavior because the memory download feature is absolutely useless and makes garbage data, the timestamp is not in sync with the start/end of the activity and the heartrate/loads are  re-calculated completely wrong - so what is the damn point of having memory if it is useless?

I would be the same problem exists on the Fenix8 as the Fenix6 with the HRM-Pro-Plus, are people really going to pay for something that doesn't work?
