Connect keeps forgetting my paired Fenix 6 Pro

For the past month or so Connect has been forgetting my paired Fenix 6 Pro Watch, what is bizarre is that Garmin Connect NEVER forgets my paired Garmin Edge 530 bike computer.

My current phone is a Google Pixel 7a the watch has been paired with no issue since i bought the phone approx 8 months ago, i have tried the various hard reset tricks i found in the facebook groups but I'm not sure the issue is with the actual watch?

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Garmin Connect, sometimes the watch will stay paired for a week, today i woke up to the watch no longer paired to the phone, at 6am i paired the device again, later this morning the phone was no longer connected, upon checking the phone the Fenix 6 Pro was nowhere to be seen.

I have tried pairing the watch via Connect and via the Android settings themselves, it makes no difference, it seemingly at random times just forgets the device exists.

Anybody have any ideas? there seems to be a few people on one of the fenix facebook groups with the same issue?

  • Hello, I am sorry to hear the watch is not staying paired with the phone. For this, I would recommend trying these steps:

    1. Ensure the phone's OS is on the latest version
    2. Uninstall the Connect Mobile app
    3. Clear the phone cache and history
    4. Ensure the watch does not appear in the phone's Bluetooth menu. If it is, please remove the device
    5. Powercycle the watch and phone. To do this, hold the Light button until this shuts off., as opposed to selecting power off. Then power on again
    6. Reinstall the Connect Mobile app
    7. Try the pairing again ( Be sure there are no other Bluetooth enabled device nearby)

To pair again, place the watch in pairing mode. Sign into the app, and allow this to walk you through pairing.

If this issue continues, I would recommend trying a full factory reset reset using these steps, then try the pairing again:

    1. Ensure the watch is powered off.
      • You may need to hold LIGHTfor up to 30 seconds to turn the watch off.
    2. Press and hold BACK and START/STOP.
    3. Press LIGHT to power the watch on while holding these two buttons.
    4. After the first beep release START/STOP.
    5. After the second beep release the remaining button.

If this is still not working, I would recommend contacting Garmin Support.

  • I spoke too soon. That evening, my watch was listed under Bluetooth, but listed is not connected. When I tapped on it to connect it I was unsuccessful. Therefore, Garmin connect, cannot see my watch therefore it cannot sync to my watch.. there is a serious problem with the most recent Garmin connect update. Garmin needs to address this as soon as possible. This watch was way too expensive to have it not communicate with a software update. I gave them the lowest rating I could on customer service as I got zero resolution. if they do not rectify this problem, this will be the last garment product I ever purchase. And I have several of them.

  • I have Fenix 6 Pro and since Garmin Connect update around July 4th phone and watch can’t see or communicate with each other. . Turned both on and off. Updated software to watch via Garmin express. Uninstalled and reinstalled Garmin Connect. Removed Watch from Bluetooth and attempted to pair - no success. Did a factory reset on Watch called to customer service twice last guy said I could mail back and pay $200 for another one or get 20% off an entirely different model RageRage.

  • I feel like I am being punished due to YOUR software update. This watch was EXPENSIVE. I don’t want to spend more money, I want them to stand by your product and fix this.

  • I did the reset. I have spoken to Support TWICE watch still not talking or syncing to phone.

  • No problems for over 4 years with my Fenix 6X pro but now constantly losing connection since july. Tried the "steps" and that worked for a couple of days and now the problem is back. There's definitely something terribly wrong on the Garmin side. This is bad!

  • i have even went as far as wiping my Bluetooth cache and data from android and starting again, i woke up this morning and the watch was no longer connected, the watch says its waiting for the phone, the app will show the watch in the top corner but requires repairing every time, i am sick of getting emails from Garmin congratulating me on setting up my new watch at this point.

  • Had a chat with dutch support. They keep on denying there's  a problem with the software. Same offer, sent in my watch to evaluate. If it's defect I can pay 180,- euro for  another one. No discount on me bying a different model. This sucks!

  • No problems for over 4 years with my Fenix 6X pro but now constantly losing connection since july.

If you are on Android, you could try installing an older version of the Garmin Connect app from apkmirror.com. Get a version from the time before July. In this way you can eliminate (or confirm) the app update being the culprit.

BTW, which phone brand do you use? Isn't is by hazard Pixel, or Samsung Galaxy S2* ? Those are indeed known for forgetting already paired BLE devices. Often the interference between the Wi-Fi and BT (using the same 2.4 GHz band) causes problems. In such case, changing the Wi-Fi to the 5GHz band may help (assuming your phone and the Wi-Fi access point support it)

  • I'm using an Iphone 13 with ios.
