Unable to pair with iPhone

For the past few days, I have been having trouble with my Garmin Fenix 6 Pro watch and software version 27.00. The watch keeps disconnecting from my phone (iPhone, iOS 17.6). I decided to reset the watch to its factory settings, but now I can't even pair the watch with the phone. The phone displays the message "Searching for Fenix 6 Pro," and the watch says "go to the mobile app to add the device." I tried reverting to software version 26.00, but the result is the same and I still can't add the watch to the phone.

I have already followed the instructions provided by support in the email, the ones available on the website, and the ones available in the app. Before each pairing attempt, I completely removed the connection to the watch from the phone, reinstalled the mobile app, and even tried it on another device.

Additionally, the GPS time syncs completely randomly; sometimes it is -26 minutes, other times -50 minutes, even though when displaying the map, I am in the same location and everything seems correct.

Is this the definite end of the watch?

    Hello

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. For this, I would recommend the following steps:

    2. Uninstall the Connect Mobile app
    3. Clear the phone…

  • If you did already everything including a complete reset to factory defaults without success, try diagnostic mode to see if there is a broken GPS or BLE module. How to activate diag mode is here: www.hardreset.info/.../. Scroll through the tests using the Back/Lap button.

  • I didn't include the complete instruction, sorry.  When you are on the BT test page, press Down to select a "Modulation" (just any one), then press Start until it says "BT test ON". Press Start/Stop and then Down to select another modulation. I don't know if this test is a selftest, or if it is designed to work with external test equipment. But I am quite sure that the test requires communicating with the ANT/BLE module, and if that does not work, it will in all likelyhood not initialize the test mode, and that indicates hardware failure.

Another thing you can do is review the version of ANT/BLE/BT in System -> About, that should be 6.15 for V27.00. If it is 0, it is very likely not fixable. Maybe reinstalling V27.00 or a lower version will work to update it, maybe not.

  • Every single test looks the same, "BT test ON - WAIT" -> "BT test ON"

Version of ANT/BLE/BT is 6.15. I already trying to reinstall 27.00, I also try 21.00 and 26.00, all works the same.

  • That all looks OK. Does the app request a PIN code to pair or does nothing happen?

Are there devices nearby to which the watch was paired at one time?

Mobile devices keep a chache of BT adresses that they have paired to in the past, so you always have to 'forget' the watch on phones and tablets, and reboot the watch as well. But you already did that.

Sometimes it helps to switch off Wifi on the phone and walk outside where interference from mobile devices is not likely to occur.

Other than that, hopefully someone with iPhone knowledge can respond.

  • Hello

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. For this, I would recommend the following steps:

    1. Ensure the phone is on the latest OS Version
    2. Uninstall the Connect Mobile app
    3. Clear the phone cache and history
    4. Ensure the watch does not appear in the phone's Bluetooth menu. If it is, please remove the device
    5. Powercycle the watch and phone. To do this, hold the Light button until this shuts off. Then power on again
    6. Reinstall the Connect Mobile app
    7. Try the pairing again ( Be sure there are no other Bluetooth enabled device nearby)

Since you have already tried a factory reset, if this issue continues, I would recommend reaching out to Garmin Support, as the watch will likely need to be replaced.
