V26.00 and 27.00 battery drain

  • Hello, guys! Can anyone please send me the last working version of the software for Fenix 6s pro before v26.00?? This battery drain is becoming even higher with the v.27.00. I am tired of trying to look for older versions, doing hard resets and nothing to work. Please, if anyone has a link, I would be really thankful PrayPray
  • Same issues on 27.00 (6X Sapphire): 56% to 11% within a day with no activities enabled, just counting my steps. That's all.

  • Wondering if you recently installed any new clock faces, widgets, or apps that might be buggy and sucking up the battery? If so, I'd try uninstalling them.

  • Hi, none.
Same configuration as was during minimum 1 year.
Made simple reboot. Looks like things get better.

The same thing happens to me, the battery drains very quickly, hopefully it lasts 1 and a half days. Any recommendation

    Any suggestions to avoid this?

  • Unfortunately none. After last reboot watch stands by as it was before an issue, abt 5-7 days under standard usage (12k-15k steps a day, 1-2 in-line skating workouts). Still have no idea how other watches survives up to 2 weeks.

  • I have a fenix 6s pro saphire.

After updating to version 27.00, the battery consumption is brutal (2.8% per hour) which results in the battery lasting less than 2 days!!

At the moment there is no solution. I have contacted technical service to send me a new unit (it is under warranty) and what I will do is deactivate the updates, and leave it as factory goods.

    Kind regards

  • Dug in the problem and online there is a lot of battery drain issues reported concerning the older (>4yrs) Garmin models. They all seems to "magicaly" starting right after a forced system update. Cant be coincidence.

System updates are mandatory to, i tried that one to a few years ago. If you deside to keep your Garmin on a older version, the performance wil suddenly collapse, again battery drain trick appears and the connection with Garmin app/phone will be lost all the time.

Looks to me that Garmin marketing strategy is to force users to buy the newer watch based on manufacturer/Garmin disided lifetime of the model. Garmin put average lifetime of all models on 4-5yrs. I find it terrible that out of the blue (read Garmin forced version update) older model watches start software/OS related malfunctioning while they were perfect the day before.

Sadly you see the same product strategy with laptop/pc/phone/smartTV manufacturers for a long time. Garmin just follows the trent. That means every 4-5yrs you can trow out your perfectly fine hardware because the manufacturer deside that the lifetime of your product has ended and the forced update will kill the performance or connectivity of your watch, laptop or phone. Only for you to buy their latest model.

Happend to my 2021 Tactix Delta Solar. At the time it was >€1.000. military grade, never had any problems with the watch. Until only right after this v27.00 update, the battery suddenly last for a maximum of one day. Before this update it was going for at least one or two weeks, depending on amount of activities. It is definitely not a hardware related problem. I did 3x factory reset and a clean new install.... Costed me a few hours but did not solve the problem.

Strongly thinking about switching back to my mechanic watch and the good old mobile sport apps. Then I'm only forced to replace one item each 4 years.

  • I bought my Fenix 6 pro in February 2021 and i do not experience the battery drain. I have to admit that your theory is plausible though.
