Can you manually add steps to daily total?

I’m doing interval training on incline treadmill and when at high incline it is impossible not to hold the bars. This is causing my watch to not track mileage and steps correctly. I know how to fix mileage for the activity but I can’t find a way to edit steps to count toward daily goal.

  • Hello

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. Unfortunately it is not possible to manually edit your steps totals. You are able to manually edit the activity to correct the distance and speed.

When recording the treadmill activity, it is very important to avoid holding the treadmill railing, as this will prevent the watch from capturing your arm swings. This is vital for steps tracking,

  • When does Garmin plan to implement this simple solution to update steps manually? I know they are being used for insurance discounts or challenges, but it could be easily marked as edited. I need this ability to complete data for days when battery got dead during long activities or to delete steps counted during long car driving.

  • Agree, it's ***. Today I was pushing my grandson in a pushchair and forgot to put the activity tracking on. Google fit now says 10k steps and Garmin 3.3k. Garmins tech needs to be a bit smarter than simply counting wrist movements and not allowing a manual update is unforgivable, even fit does it.
