Wahoo Tickr has a connection to my Fenix . When i start a run activity, the watch shows a very low HR and i have to disconnect the Tickr from the chest strap and reattach so that it picks up after about 500m.
Is this normal?

Have you already checked if the strap is not worn, wetted well enough before use and that the battery in the Tickr is still good?
Can you verify that the HRM is well connected, wet the electrodes, wear the HRM belt, then on the watch in Sensors, check that it is listed and connected. If it is a dual Bluetooth - ANT+ sensor, use ANT+. Some Wahoo sensors I have used went into power saving mode before I had started an activity, when used with Bluetooth.
