I had wrongly assumed before my today’s test that I had already posted some findings about what happens to a Fenix 6X if one removes/deletes all the sports app, but one.
Since my F6X is just a secondary watch, I removed/deleted all the sports app, I just kept one with special settings for long distance navigation.
So I realized that if I keep at least two sports apps then it takes like 1.25-1.5 seconds to get into the sports app list from the watchface. But if I have only one then the same takes 2.75-3.0 seconds. The same is true if you have more than one sports apps, but only one in favourite list.
Conclusion: if you have more than one sports apps in the favourite list, your Fenix 6X is faster, it presumably executes fewer basic operations.
Today I spotted the same sort of behaviour with courses. I focused not on the time demand of opening a course in the Courses menu, but that of choosing “Do course”.
I used two courses of different lengths and I always restarted my watch in order to minimize the side effects of any optimization coming from repeated actions.
Course A:
it needed appr. 70 seconds to execute the “Do course” when I had just one sports app in the favourite list and it took appr. 47 seconds when I had more.
Course B:
the numbers were 20 seconds and 12-13 seconds, respectively.
Extended conclusions:
some peesumably unnecessary basic operations are executed if there is just one sports app in the favourite list, so I definitely will use a second one, even if it will be a dummy one.
Crazy, isn’t it?
