Fenix 6 intermittent power meter drop outs after last update

My Fenix 6 solar has developed an annoying intermittent communication dropout with whatever power meter I have paired with it. Initially I thought that it was limited to the Power2Max crank meter which displays the most obvious dropouts which I notice during a ride just keeping an eye on the watch. Back on the Wahoo turbo a couple of times during the last two weeks and it's now evident when I download the ride in training peaks.

I've reviewed my ride files and wahoo trainer files from before the summer and don't see this issue in the files. Also ridden 2 rides using a borrowed Garmin Edge 500 haven't experienced drop outs.  I can only assume this is due to the most recent FW update.

Anyone else experience this or have any suggestions for solution??

  • Yes, I noticed dropouts the last couple of rides since the latest firmware update. The power (from XC100) will intermittently show 0 (zero) on my Fenix 6 when I'm clearly working hard. It is not a lag either, from a previous stop or whatever. I've had these since late August 2023 with only 7 rides. The last two rides, both after September, had the dropouts. It looks like both cadence and power when reviewing the charts. Prior to October, I don't see the issue in the data, nor did I notice while riding. It's very obvious now. I always calibrate before starting and my battery looks good.

I hope Garmin resolves this ASAP!

  • power seems fine with my flight trainer but i went on the web to check it instead and i do not have any power info anymore. not sure what is going on here.

  • I stopped getting power readings on October 11th. I may need to see if something is not connecting on the watch. When i looked at a date with power, it seems like everything is fine. No drops.
