White background screens going so dim nothing can be read.

Fenix 6 X Sapphire had suddenly lost its brightness when opening up settings or activities, making screen virtually unreadable when either half or whole white background shows. Watch face brightness is fine as is all screens when scrolling through heart rate and weather and compass etc.
Any ideas how to fix this?

I am sorry there is an issue. The issue you are experiencing might be your MIPS display failing but if it isn't a hardware issue, you might be able to still recover the normal behavior again.

Please try the following:

Soft Reset: Hold down your top left power button until your watch shuts off then let go of the button.

Reset to Default:

Thanks Chris, I’d already tried a reset and no good. Tried again following your steps and still no good. Every is fine on a screen with a black background but as soon as it goes to a full or partial white background it’s hard to see. What is the MIPS?

Your display technology used is known as MIPS. It is why your display can be well read in bright sunlight but an AMOLED display can barely be seen if at all in bright sunlight.

I am sorry there was no luck. Everything you have given suggests your watch display is failing.

Today, I've experienced the same. How can I repair the watch? Reboot doesn't help. Should I go for the full reset, or that doesn't help?

If so, what are the costs and the repair procedure? Frankly, I wasn't expecting the watch to be so short-lived.

I have something to share here.

I had the same issue, and contacted Garmin support. They offered a replace/update options which were much worse than I could buy in a shop, so I decided I'll switch to something else when it becomes completely unusable.

But then weird things happen. First, on the bright screens, it became inverted. Every single color — but it became readable again. I didn't mind much if WhatsApp icon was purple, but I thought I can bear it till Epix 3 comes out.

But in like two months, one day it got back to normal, and it's like so about a month. What's really weird is that now I have a better battery life than ever. Is it some software update / fix, or I had some self-curing case...
