Checking heart rate zones

Hi,

Fenix 6 PRO with Garmin HRM chest strap and running heart rate zones set to: 'based on % ofLT'. Can anybody with similar devices/settings please check are this zones are 'normal' in terms of percentage and overal numbers (with additional info, current max HR what watch said after one run was 183 and lactate trashold on 163.

For example, in app 'additional info' zone 5 is described as "90-100% of max HR" but Garmin for me put 178-183 HR (109-112%)!!!???!!! Why? And second question, in which zone should be lactate trashold? For me that is in zone 3 and it count lactate trashold as 100% HR???

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Same here with 6s pro, but this might be a feature and not a bug. Your watch detects max HR and LT. Both of them though are based on pulse metrics and are not related via a percentage.

My own issue here was that automatic HR detection seemed to be overly optimistic. And since LT is fixed, for dinner reason the watch modifies the zones under LT, pushing them upward. In effect this falsifies the actual aerobic/antivirus effect of workouts.

My suggestion would be to measure your LT/max HR at a lab somewhere. Then fix them on the watch and disable at least max HR.

For me, LT is the start of zone 5 currently. You can try to reset the zones, that will set them again according to the set LT.

Not a  very good explanation here though. If somebody can offer some insights on what actually happens as LT/max HR changes, is be grateful as well.
