Having exactly the same problem. I've checked all settings and map updates as detailed by Cody, everything looks correct as it is. Playing tomorrow - I'll let the satellite search do it's thing from the first tee box and post again after the round.

Sent you a direct message requesting further information as well. Thank you!
Just finished a round. Golf app worked like normal again . I didn't change any settings in the app. I waited until I was standing on 1st tee box before starting the app, then let the satellite search do it's thing. Seems to have fixed it, at least for today.
Same problem with mine too. I have tried everything Scoretracking On, Off, Always Ask etc. I have now at least 10 rounds behind me with going to Scorecard and add my score and then go to Change Hole for the next fairway - always manually. At some point I thought, Garmin has maybe changed the way scorecard has to be used. I played the first hole and proceed to the next tee, hoping the program would recognize this and ask for the score before (the way it is done with the cards). But unfortunately nothing like that. To my surprise, sometimes it asks "Use scoring" which I answered with Yes - but nothing happened too. Most of the time it just does nothing.
The prompt you received from the watch asking if you would like to keep score, is due to "Always Ask" being set for Scoring within the Golf Settings section on your watch. You can adjust that setting by changing the status to "On" for the Scoring option in Golf Settings.
In regards to entering the score during the round, if you are using an Approach series golf watch, you must select the pencil on the screen to prompt the watch to display the option to enter the score. Then enter and confirm the score info prior to teeing off on the next hole.
More info available to reference on the scoring prompt available on the Garmin Support article here: Scoring display adjustments on compatible Approach devices
Thanks for this. I am using the Fenix 6. Had to update it like 10 days ago to 26.00 and ever since that, scoring does not work anymore. With the effects I described before. Hope this helps.
In 26.0, I found that my Data Recording had randomly changed itself from ‘Every Second’ to ‘Smart’. This caused me issues with recording of runs, walks etc. I haven’t played golf since the update due to me recovering from an operation so I didn’t check Golf
I suggest you check your Fenix menu System>Data Recording and set to ‘Every Second’ if needed. This is what support article says:
Your fēnix® 6 series watch offers the ability to change the recording method between Smart or Every Second recording. This setting refers to the interval at which GPS data is recorded during an activity.
