Mine is working like normal as it did before the update. So it seems not all devices are affected.
No problem for me either, the backlight is working properly.
Mine just started working again out of nowhere.
I just used the connect app, added a pair of shoes to the gear section. Never done that before. I got a badge for adding my first piece of gear on my watch…

At 4am my backlight still wasn’t working, but an alarm went off at 7am, the backlight came on and it has worked all day till 10pm, now it’s not working other than when I use the flashlight feature.
