HRV Status stopped working

Hi,

back in April, my watch stopped sending data to Garmin Connect, although it was still visible in watch.

Reset fixed this issue, but I did not notice that HRV is not being recorded.

So here I am, a month later, banging my head against a wall trying to figure out how to fix this issue.

I tried resetting the watch again, last time even without backup and restore of settings, but it's still not showing any data after night's sleep. It creates the .fit file inside HRVStatus folder, but it's empty, with a timestamp of 14th of July 2023, and I am sure I am not a time traveler lol.

The last data was recorded on 13th of April.

Does anyone have any ideas how to try to fix this? I already contacted support, but while I am waiting I would like to know your opinions. It was working fine until that point.

  • Your issue with the Garmin watch not recording HRV data could be due to a range of factors, including firmware issues, device settings, or data syncing problems. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure your watch has the latest firmware updates installed. Garmin regularly releases updates to fix bugs and improve performance. You can check for updates through the Garmin Connect app or Garmin Express on your computer.

    2. Check the Device Settings: Make sure that the HRV or Stress feature is turned on in the watch settings. Sometimes these settings might get reset or turned off inadvertently.

    3. Check the Sleep Tracking Settings: Since you mentioned that the data isn't recorded after a night's sleep, make sure that the sleep tracking settings are properly set up.

    4. Wear the Watch Correctly: The watch needs to be worn correctly to record HRV data. It should be worn snugly above the wrist bone. If the watch is not worn correctly, it may not be able to capture the HRV data accurately.

    5. Syncing Issues: Sometimes, the issue could be related to syncing. Try syncing the watch manually with the Garmin Connect app and see if the HRV data appears.

    6. Factory Reset: You mentioned that you've already tried resetting the watch. However, if none of the above solutions work, you could try a factory reset one more time. Just be sure to back up any important data before you do this as it will erase all the data and settings on the watch.

  • 1. - I am on 25.10 FW

    2. - every other metric works, including stress. HRV setting can't be found, only log HRV, which is different

    3. - sleep tracking is being recorded fine

    4. - given that HR, stress and sleep is being tracked correctly, plus I have velcro strap, wearing it above my wrist bone, I am wearing it correctly

    5. - tried syncing with GC app, Garmin express as well

    6. - just did factory reset for probably 4th time yesterday

EDIT: just did another reset, with the buttons and watch powered off, so I'll see tomorrow again...

  • Keep in mind that after resetting your watch, you start your HRV calibration from scratch, which means you need to wear your watch for 3 weeks and let it record your sleep every night until you get a HRV status again.

  • Yes, I am aware of that, but even during those 3 weeks, you can see your daily (or I should say nightly) HRV data for each night, noly resulting in HRV Status after those 3 weeks. And it was not recording those data at all, even though it generated .fit file.

  • Update after the biggest reset I did.

Timestamp on .fit file still 14th of July

    still not working at all

  • this happened to me after taking the 20.10 firmware update on my descent mk2.   just about a month ago.  everything else works.  but HRV stopped.   garmin support ??

  • Garmin support told me to do that reset I mentioned and if that does not help (which it did not), just wait for the new firmware that comes or install beta. And then hope.

Today I installed newest beta version as I can't wait and we'll see tomorrow. If it does not help I will probably have to send it for out of warranty repairs. And if they won't fix it hopefully they'll replace it with the new 7X pro with my additional payment Joy

  • Update fixed the issue, hrv status is back, finally. So if you don't have any updates available, maybe try reinstalling
