Update 25.10 killed my Garmin Fenix 6x Sapphire

It's a horrible experience! Since almost a month ago after my watch has updated to 25.10 I've experienced the following:

1. The watch won't recognize any WiFi networks and constantly searches for WiFi networks that drain the battery.

2. Recently every day it says an update is available and it takes 1 minute to install. I press install and it reboots. Again tomorrow, the same message!

3. If I connect using USB on a Windows computer with Garmin Express it won't recognize the watch and the watch freezes in the charging screen with no response from pressing any buttons on the watch. I only have to hold the power button to turn it off/on again.

In the announcements section on the forum, I see that Garmin has released "Beta Version 25.81 - OTA Update". Can anyone guide me on how can I update to this version? The watch shows 25.10 and hard resetting the watch won't make it work either.

Any help is appreciated!

  • Mine to.

Slow, freeze, backlight does not work. The Garmin people really messed up with this.

My computer does not recognize the watch, nor android file transfer or Garmin Express, so I have no way to downgrade or upgrade

  • Garmin, do you want me to go and buy an Apple Ultra?

  • This really hurts! Despite the fact that it costs an arm and a leg, and everyone complains about it they don't even provide a solution for it!

And, I have also the freezing issue as well. I have to force power off and on by holding the power button. At this point, here are so many annoying issues, I don't remember them all at once.

  • Same probleme here, batterry running low extremly quickly :(

  • Since my watch updated it went from not connecting to my phone to now being stuck in the blue triangle boot loop with no reset being able to fix it.  Windows wont even recognize it if I plug it into my computer to try and connect to Garmin Express.

  • Do the Garmin support people even read this forum?

This is a peer-to-peer User's forum, not a Garmin support forum.  Some monitoring and feedback is done by Garmin, but it is unrealistic to expect any posts from Garmin in response to your posts.

Well, that's silly! Every sensible company that cares about its brand and also customer support/feedback provides a way to encourage customers to provide feedback. This aside, after using this watch for a long period of time, it seems Garmin itself does not have any kind of Quality Assurance / Testing team.

How is it possible everyone here complaining about almost the same set of issues and the Quality Assurance / Testing missed these bugs?

    It's either of these:

    1. They don't care!

    2. They don't have a proper QA team (again point 1)!

  • Get on the phone and ring Garmin Support. Ask them to raise a Case for your faults.
Work through diagnostics with them, send in data, followup with them. If it’s still not working ask for a free replacement.

my 6X was just replaced for free after 2 years with a new one.

  • Thank you ! I've just contacted Garmin support in the Netherlands and they told me this is a known issue. My watch is also over 2 years old. They told me I have to provide them with a file from the watch so once they confirm the issue is the watch they will arrange a replacement. I told them I cannot provide them with that file since my watch won't recognize it in Windows Explorer as an MTP device and freezes. They told me then just reply to the email with that information. So, I'm waiting for their response now. Now, I feel that I am getting proper support. Thank you for that information!
