Heya folk,
I bought this watch second hand last year and it has been mostly okay. Only issues was the battery not being quite close enough to the advertised rating, and the elevation being always wildly wrong. Not much hassle, I use Strava to correct. Have used it for all my running since, including multiple pretty extreme ultras.
Last couple of weeks, started seeing some weird behaviour. Battery drained really fast. Track workouts always failed to correctly pan out (failing again and again to correctly measure distance). It would fail to wirelessly sync activity, needed to be plugged into laptop.
This morning, I woke up and the time was stuck on 08:47 for no apparently reason. I turned it off, still wrong time. It also kept buzzing to warn of "Storm Alerts". I turned off and on multiple times. No change. I reset default settings, and it got stuck on "maps loading" screen – for several hours! I tried turning off and on. I reset entirely, including all data. I did the "hold start + lap buttons" while powering-up protocol, essentially returning it to factory settings. Now it won't reboot properly, nor sync with my phone. Every time I plugged it into my laptop to try connecting to Garmin Express, Express crashes. I have turned every single thing off and on. I have removed it from my Garmin account, tried adding it back. Nothing I do seems to help.
Over the course of the day, and FAR too many hours to trying literally everything I could find online, it has essentially seemed to die. The backlight barely seems to work anymore. I have no idea what the displays are up to. It's still doing the "storm alert", like again and again, won't stop unless I hold power to turn it off. See images for examples of the bizarre behaviour I've seen it go through.
Does ANYONE know what else I can do?!? Can't afford replacement – especially given no one will be paying for this one!
