Fenix 6 pro intermittent fault

Around about the time of the last software update (I have SW 24.1 installed under the Beta program) the watch seems to work but it stops gathering data so things like steps and HR data are not gathered. This started on 4 Jan 2023 after the completion of one activity but now it seems to happen intermittently. The first time I noticed it was when the watch failed to sync to the Garmin Connect app. At that point I also noticed that there was no HR showing and the step counter had stopped increasing. I had to do a soft reset in order to get the watch to connect to the app by just turning the watch off and then back on. But sure enough all the HR data is missing. Anyone else had similar issues?

  • if you have beta software loaded then you need to be posting in the beta forum

  • Hi Mick,

I have a Fenix 6 Pro Solar, also with software 24.10 I didn't opt in for the beta program (only automatic updates are pushed).

I have the similar problems. I gues last weeks of december 2022 the Heart rate data won't be synced to Garmin Connect by phone over bluetooth. Activities yes, but sleep, sleep score, HRV and heart rate data no.

I contacted Garmin support, they explained me that if activities will be transfered to Garmin connect maybe delayed, they give me some solution by deleting the Fenix from the phone by delete it from GC en from the bluetooth, but then only information of sleep synchronized (after reconnection).

My solution for a short period was to sync it by USB with a PC, 2 weeks of lost data has been synchronized, then it was working (sync was full) for a couple of days, but now again, the watch is missing all the heart rate data of last days.

So, yes there are people with same issues, for short times a solution is possible over connect watch with PC over USB, but hopefully someone else will have a solution for a longer period?

    Best regards.

    Luc

  • Agreed Philip. I’ve posted the same as a bug report in the beta forum. I’m just not convinced that this relates to the beta software so figured I’d also share here.

  • Hi Luc

Just to be clear. I haven’t lost any activities and I have been able to get activities to sync to the GC iOS app but I’ve often had to do a soft reset first in order to do so. But when the lack of connectivity has arose it’s because the watch has stopped gathering data like HR and steps that usually happens in the background. Consequently once the watch sync is completed then there are gaps in HR data which means that things like HRV status, Resting HR, Sleep, Stress, etc all have gaps in their data/analytics.

    • To put a cherry on the top, and this is unconnected to the bug issues referred to above, yesterday the Sleep widget managed to allocate 2hrs of snow clearance to REM sleep, so the watch has not done well in 2023 :)
