it should record the descents I make while skiing. The altitude graph always shows the same altitude. But if I use the hiking app everything works

Yes exactly. I don't know why but with the sci function it doesn't log me any data.
Sounds like somehow the 'auto run' function is not triggered. Was the slope unusually flat maybe? I would give it a try with auto run disabled.

It might be a bug that was introduced by an update to the altimeter auto calibration. If you notice that it is not working, I would try to stop the activity, set altimeter auto calibration to the 'nightly' setting and try again by starting a new activity.
