purchasing European maps

To be sure i am doing it correctly. I log to my account, add it to the cart and when i sync my Fenix 6 pro with garmin express, i should see the maps under the purchased tab. is that correct ?

The instructions say to download it to a SD card. i am a little confused

As long as the map is compatible with your watch too, you will be fine.

You are correct in your statement. When you buy a map, as long as you are buying the map using your same Garmin account that is the same one your watch is registered to, you will sign-in to that same Garmin account in the Purchased Tab of Garmin Express and the map will be offered to be downloaded. It will download to your computer memory to then be copied over to your watch's internally memory.

And there're a couple of free open street map mased maps for Garmin (just Google OSM based maps for Garmin). I think DC rainmaker - among others - has an article on his website on this topic.

SebCologne are you sure ? It looks like it shows up under the purchased tab in garmin connect from what I gathered. So any watches connected to the same account should be able to download the purchased items.

It is correct that a map purchased is tied directly to the device it was downloaded to and is not transferrable. Also, the map download link is valid for 1 year.

Garmin - Chris Thanks for the link. it says that the maps cannot be updated. How come ? my current north America gets updated ? If you cannot update or move them to a new watch, that does not sound like a great deal for $60.
