Has anyone got "Bike Indoor" working with iFit? (specifically with a Freemotion Coachbike)?

I'm trying to get my Fenix 6 to work better with my Freemotion Coachbike which is using iFit and have reached a bit of a dead end, so was wondering if anyone else was having any success or knows of a workaround or any suggestions please?

If I use the "Bike Indoor" function on my Fenix 6, it will only register the length of time I've been working out and my heartrate - all other data is not present.

So instead I use the manual workout function on iFit, and export the heart rate from my Fenix 6 (which the Coachbike picks up via ANT+).  As I'd like my workout data in Garmin, rather than iFIT, what I then have to do is export my workout as a TCX file, use GoldenCheetah to change it to a FIT file, then import it into Garmin (at which point I then have to delete the original workout in iFit as I have my Garmin account linked with my iFit account - the sync appears only to work in 1 direction unfortunately).

Does anyone know whether it is possible to get the iFit to transmit (and the Fenix to receive) the workout data so I can just select the "Bike Indoor" function on my Fenix and have my workout recorded on that device, or whether the iFit sync to Garmin can be configured to work in the other direction? (i.e. iFit to Garmin)?

  • I'm hoping to find the same solution.

I turn on HR broadcast, so the ProForm bike picks it up, or the iPad used with iFit picks it up.  I start a bike indoor workout and save it once I'm done.  At the end of the workout, I take a picture of the iFit workout so I can manually enter distance, max speed (avg. speed is automatically calcuated once I enter distance), avg. and max cadence, and also avg. and max power.

Like you ask, I can't find a way for iFit to share the workout with Connect.  I'm assuming because I enter the power numbers into the workout this is why I'm getting a training status.  Because training status has to be done by running outdoors, or biking with power, indoors or outdoors.  If I export via .tcx then no power data is uploaded to Connect.

  • Unfortunately I can't give you a categorical answer - I tried reaching out to iFit and they just didn't reply.

The only thing I can suggest is exporting the data from iFit and then use Golden Cheetah to see if you can enter the power data, and then export it to Garmin.  You might have to play with different formats etc but it should be possible.

On a separate point, it's highly unlikely that Garmin will ever natively support iFit or vice versa to the extent we're looking for - especially as Garmin have recently released their own indoor bike - www.garmin.com/.../734868

  • I've exported the iFit data and it doesn't export power data, so it's no good either.  I'm done investing time into, and ready to cancel my iFit membership.  The bike was free anyways.  Come on spring!

  • Did you ever get this working?
