fenix 2: Update without a computer?

Asking for my brother.

I know this is the fenix 6 forum, which is busier than the 7. Has the forum for the 2 been archived, or hidden? I could not find it.

My brother does not have a PC or a MAC. He does have a chrome book, and an apple phone.

Is there a way for him to update the firmware on his 2?

PS. Last time he was with me, we used my PC, and I see "Version 4.50", so maybe it is up to date? But there is something he said he wanted to do but couldn't, so maybe I need more info.

Note: We live in different states. :-)

So, just to give you some feedback, and perspective. I use a Fenix 6X Pro Solar. I only use an iPhone and iPad Pro. Anything larger than firmware, like maps, etc, I have to find a PC or Mac to borrow. I suspect that with the age of your device, you would need to have a PC or Mac for just about any update, using Garmin Express.

Thank you @WD . After asking, I wondered if my bro even has the app on his phone, so I asked him to try. I also let him know that my Garmin, an FR235, updates (I think) via phone. But I do sync via PC quite often, so am not 100% it did via phone.

Pairing Your Smartphone with Your fēnix 2 Device

4.50 is the latest version for the Fenix 2. There may be some time zone map updates, but you can use the device normally without those. If your brother has problems with the Fenix 2, he may need to reset it. If he never synced the watch via PC or phone, it has no or an expired EPO file and will need 5 to 15 minutes out in the open with the "Satellite tools" screen active before starting an activity. Any other questions, PM me, still have a Fenix 2 and use it sometimes.
