GPS not working after 23.10 update

Which GPS version 5.50 or 6.30 ?

For your information and test, this version "force" an update to GPS watch/chipset which use 5.50 software.

I have the Fenix 6X Saphire and the GPS is at 5.50

I suggest to test the Alpha version, i use it without issue myself.

Do you use Garmin Express ? If not, it's a good way to force the CPE update

And regularly check if your watch is connect/sync with your smartphone for localization "help".

Thank you for the suggestion i might try this later. Just seems strange to happen on 2 different watches and i feel i have missed something. 

Also, i have done the light button turn off and also completely reset the watch again. Same issue.

This is why i suggest you Garmin Express, and smartphone verification.

UPDATE: I plugged into Garmin Express and let it sync. Not sure why but this seemed to work. I still sync though connect app and all seems to be working. Will try it out tomorrow on ride.

UPDATE II: Quick walk this morning and the GPS calibrated quite quickly. I also calibrated the altimeter and barometer with GPS and both calibrated quickly. After the walk everything showed back up like normal with a good track of where i was. 

I have been doing some reading and it seems the sync with Garmin Express pulls satellite data from my area to support a quicker lock when doing an activity. I'm not sure if this s correct but it did lock on much faster this morning after syncing via Garmin Express. 

Yes, this is correct. Garmin express will download a file (CPE.bin) to your watch with the latest satellite information every time you connect and sync. After a few days (a week?) the data becomes out of date and needs refreshing.

The watch can do it without Garmin Express, but it takes about 20 minutes with good GPS signal to pull down all the data if you haven't used GPS for a while. The watch might indicate a "lock" much quicker than that, but without an up to date file or a good soak before setting off you might find GPS performance a bit wobbly to begin with or even for that whole activity, depending on signal strength as you proceed.

Personally I connect my watch to GE at least once per week, every Friday, for sync and charge, and I don't seem to suffer the sort of GPS problems reported by others.

Finally, following new firmware installation it is always good practice to reboot the watch and download a fresh CPE file or give the 20 minute GPS soak before your next GPS activity, if you need solid GPS performance.

Just to add; the CPE file will 'age' if there are no GPS activities in between times. if the watch is used frequently enough ephemeris data is updated every time a GPS activity is undertaken.
