Keep holding the button until it powers off. Probably 20 seconds or more
I updated to 23.01 on Saturday and my watch lost 60% in one day after the update - nearly 4 1/2 hours GPS was used, but consumption during activities was normal (about 6% per hour), but battery seemed…

If there are any issues after a new software update, there are 3 things that should be tried: (Any step might resolve an issue.)
1) Restart your watch
2) Hard Reset: Hold your top left button until your watch shuts off then let go.
If the issue continues after testing each step, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.
Have exactly the same issue. Battery time is about 30% of what was before the automatic update to 23.00. Never had the issue before, including with the recent versions that 23.00 supposedly fixes.
At this point after two hour activity with GPS drains it from 95% of the battery left to ~5% left. I'm down to about 5 days on the charge, and that's including nights in the battery saver.
Fenix 6 Pro, everything updated as per the stable update channel; UK.
Watch restarted; tried Hard Reset but after holding this button for about 3 seconds Assistance screen pops up and warns it's about to send Assistance request to my emergency contacts.

thanks, that helped even if it was a bit counterintuitive

I can account for about for about 25% for GPS, but I cannot account for what gobbled up so much power post activity. No BT / CIQ / Music / WIFI or PulseOX or obvious battery guzzlers used.
The watch isn't actually even connected (paired) to my phone right now due to resetting after the update, so it doesn't seem to be a BT / Garmin Connect issue some people report.
I have the same issue with fast battery drain.
Some user gave the advice going back to 15.20. He said, back there he never had battery drain, if it occured in some later version.
So I downgraded to 15.20 (incl. master reset). I have not connected to phone, Wifi or even a heart strap, but battery is still draining fast. So for now I my suspects are the Wifi and the ANT drivers, because they are on newer versions.
I have the same issue with fast battery drain.
ok in activities like my post above, but bad just in non-activity mode?
Same issue here.
Yes only in "standby" mode, with no phone, headphones, sensors connected or GPS tracking, no Wifi, ... my battery is draining by ~30% a day.

Identical for me - and as power consumption is normal in activities, this appears to be good evidence of a software problem, rather than an issue with battery degradation.
