Fenix 6x Strap

Am I the only one?

I have a Fenix 6X Saphire. Don't get me wrong, cracking watch, great bit of kit.

My issue is with the quickfit bands, namely that they keep popping off at extremely inconvenient times causing me to lose trust in the system and not wanting to use it.

I have already lost one watch as it popped off whilst kayaking, so is somewhere at the bottom of the Lake.

Since replacing it, my new watch also has a tendancy to pop off at inconvenient time. It has popped off several times whilst at work, thankfully I've caught it, just, everytime. It popped off today whilst at a party, thankfully someone handed it back to me but it could have gotten trodden on.

What is the point in an outdoor tracker if you can't trust having it on your wrist when you need it? I daren't wear it anymore when swimming or kayaking, yet it boasts to track these activities?

  • Personally I have not experienced quick fit bands "popping off" on my 5X+ or 6X Pro Solar, but my activities of run, bike, walk, hike do not create much risk at the wrist.

However, for reasons of comfort and improved fit I have switched to using 3rd party hook and loop nylon bands. Even if the fastening should become unstuck the band will remain closed, if rather larger, so much harder to lose the watch (without noticing).

This is what I've been using since last November. I mostly wear the black one and it is still working well.

It remains secure in the shower. No idea about more adventurous watersports.

I agree.  Here are those same bands on the U.S. Amazon site:

I also have never had any "popping off" incidents with genuine Garmin QuickFit connectors.

  • I have never had an issue with a Garmin quick fit band on any of my watches, including the F6. And to be honest I cannot recall any other reports. That's not to say there haven't been any just that if there have been they are few and far between. Are these problems you're experiencing with Garmin OEM bands or 3rd party.

If you are constantly having problems perhaps you should talk with Garmin Support.

  • Hi thanks for your reply. This is with an OEM sports band. I just wanted to put my feelers out to see if this is a common issue as I've not seen any other reports.

  • Hi, thanks for your reply!

I have actually tried one of those velcro bands, but found that the velcro became a little loose when wet and moving, again not very confidence inspiring!

I've actually found the band to come off more in everyday life whenever my wrist might rub up against something in the right way, it just unclips itself at the quickfit.
