Garmin Golf App not syncing with Fenix6

I just got the Fenix6 and am trying to pair everything up nicely with my phone.

As far as I can tell, the watch is paired with my phone (Android). Everything looks paired and sync'd up ok in Garmin Connect and Connect IQ. However, I cannot seem to get the watch to connect with the Garmin Golf App. I keep getting the red, x-out, circle.

On the Golf App, when I go to DEVICES, the Fenix 6 is listed but has the red question mark next to it. When I click on the Fenix 6 device, the app takes me to Garmin Connect where it says everything is connected and sync'd. (Yet back on Garmin Golf, it's not.)

What am I missing?

I have downloaded courses to my watch (from the Garmin Connect app). It looks as if I can play those courses and track shots (which is good). Yet when I'm done with my round, I don't see how those stats will transfer to the Garmin Golf app if the Golf app doesn't seem to recognize the Fenix6.

  • I had this a few months ago.
I think (not 100%) that I removed my Fenix from Connect.
Then I signed out of both Connect and Golf App. I then Sign back in to both apps.

I then went in to devices on Golf App and Add it there. It takes you to the Connect app and prompts to Add your Fenix.

After adding it should be in both apps. I don’t know why but it worked.

  • Thanks Ryan. Unfortunately, that didn't work (though I tried multiple times and variations: from signing out, to removing/reinstalling the apps, signing in, pairing, repairing, etc.)

The steps happened as you described - and after going to Garmin Gold and adding it in Connect, it said "Connected" - but going back to Garmin Golf, it's not.

  • IMO you cannot sync your Fenix with the Garmin Golf App. You have to sync the Fenix with Connect and then Connect syncs it with the Golf App. Not logically but thats the way I use it. I sync my scorecards with Connect and immediately they show up in the Golf App. This also goes for the tracked shots (used clubs and distances)

  • I've sort of gathered that based on other bits of info I found but that seems to explain it best. I think.

I hope to go play today so I'll try that non-intuitive process. Stay tuned... and thank you.

  • Turns out, this was the answer...

I finally got out last week to play a couple of rounds. The Fenix6 kept track of my score, clubs and distances - and when the round was over, I had to sync with Garmin CONNECT and from there, the stats sync'd with Garmin GOLF. As you said, not logical, but it worked.

Seems like Garmin could have better documentation on how APPROACH watches work with Garmin GOLF app as opposed to Fenix or other models.

    Thank you!
