Garmin Fenix 6 Pro Battery Drain 2022

I'm looking for a solution to my Garmin Fenix 6 Pro battery draining extremely fast. Here's what I did for the solution:

1- Hard reset. I turned off the clock. I held down the two buttons on the right as it booted up. I let go of a key after the first beep. Other button after second beep.

2- Soft Reset. I reset all the settings of the clock from the menu.

3- I tried Alpha and Beta versions.

4- I turned off all notifications on the watch.

5- Wifi is turned off.

Do you have a solution suggestion? I don't think it's a hardware issue. It was fixed in the previous beta version. Now it's broken again with version 22.83.

  • I don't have a similar problem - on 22.83 (and just updated to 22.85)

Have you tried turning off Bluetooth on your watch? I've seen problems before where your phone goes mental and keeps the watch awake.

Seeing as you're running Beta firmware, what does the "Device Usage" widget tell you?

If your watch is in "Low Power" mode for most of the time but it's still draining super fast, it's a failing battery I'm afraid.

    how much days it lasts?

I don't think that is the case....see here:

    forums.garmin.com/.../large-battery-drain-100-to-5-in-48-hours

For context see this where I rolled back to 15.20 here:

    https://forums.garmin.com/beta-program/fenix-6-series/bug-reports/i/public-beta-22-80/massive-battery-drain

So clearly that wasn't a faulty battery issue as only firmware changed - went from draining within 2 to 5 days to over back to over 11 days with lots of GPS. Just rolling back to 15.20 and - bingo!

Lots of data to back this up in the second thread

This is more nuanced than 'failing battery' as the upvotes on the 2nd thread shows - that is a LOT of 'failing batteries' especially as alpha and beta users make up a tiny proportion of the user base ;)

  • Device Usage Widget;
    Software: 22.83
    UpTime : 21:38:00
    Low Power : 21:28:00
    GCM: 00:16:00
    Backlight : 00:05

Battery is now at 87% . Consumption of 13-14% in approximately 24 hours seems excessive to me. In the past, this rate was around 7-8%.  I will also try to use it with Battery saver mode. According to him, it will turn out that the problem is software or hardware. But 1-2 was fixed in the previous version. So I think the problem is software. Should I turn off the TrueUp feature?

  • My Fenix 6 is just over a year old and the battery only lasts about 4 hours while gps is on. It used to last for 2 days of 8 hours each. Twice a week gps usage for a year is only 50+ charge cycles! I'm running power saving mode throughout the week, and I'm not using a compass screen during outings.

Garmin said they would replace the watch, they haven't yet, and now they won't answer emails.

At this point I'm not a happy customer.

  • When I turn off the bluetooth connection with the phone, the beer gets better, but I still haven't been able to solve the problem. It is also unreasonable to buy such an expensive watch and turn off bluetooth. I still think the problem is software, not hardware.

  • Same problem for me.
I got a replacement (Wifi stopped working with my last one) just recently with v22.10.

With this new watch battery drains by ~20% per day with no recordings. With my old watch i nearly had the 21 days without recording anything.

  • When I turn off the bluetooth connection with the phone, the beer gets better,

Whoa, I have to try this one! Laughing

  • ¿se ha solucionado lo de la batería con el firmware 23 o sigue igual?

  • If you are experiencing fast battery drain after updating to version 23.00, please create a new thread specific to version 23.00 software. Thank you!
