No Wifi network found

Since 22.10 no Wifi networks are found on my Fenix 6X. I restarted it but it does not help. Wifi version 4.01.

Does anybody has an idea? I am not really happy about trying a reset...

I just need for Spotify - is there another option than Wifi?

  • Which version of wireless security standard do you use WPA2 or WPA3? If WPA3 Garmin do not support this standart yet. I my self use WPA3 and it cannot connect. But when I use WPA2 it worked.

  • WPA2. The router itself has not changed. It already worked 2 years without a problem...

I also tried a hotspot on my phone and the neighbours wifi. All 2G.

  • Can you see you watch trying to connect to your router in the MAC log on the router.

You can find your watch MAC address this way.

Locating the Wi-Fi Mac Address on a Garmin Outdoor Watch | Garmin Customer Support

The same can be done on you phone hotspot

Else it sound like a call to support

  • No it isnt even showing any network when searching - it always tells me "no networks found"

I did - they recommend me a factory reset otherwise they cannot help.

  • I have the same problem. Garmin refuse to fix it ask me to get a replacement. After so many years of being a loyal Garmin user, I think I'm gonna switch soon. Not very helpful Disappointed

  • In my case it was a defective watch. Garmin replaced it around 1,5 years after buying it.

    How old is your watch?

  • Around the same time just over 1 year.  looks like Garmin purposely made products break right after the warranty period ends just to get folks to upgrade the next product lineup.

Allow me to also provide some context about how poor Garmin Customer Support Services are in this part of the world.

    - After 30 mins of explaining the issue to the customer support agent, they didn't even note anything down but instead, he sent me a sparse email referring me to some basic website on how to set up my watch for WIFI.

    - I've mentioned several times on the call with him that I've already followed all instructions from
    • done a full phone reset
    • connected to a brand new wifi setup (2.4Ghz)
    • followed all instructions as per Garmin support website
    • looked at public forums - reddit
    • searched any tips / info on youtube
    • even tried to sign up (which failed) and look at the Garmin beta forum
    - Six months back I assumed it was a poor firmware update and waited for the next firmware update. I decided NOT to send the watch for warranty, as I could sync via WIFI but in hindsight maybe I should have.
    - After 2 firmware updates, 23.60 and 24.10, the issue still persists
    - I called up the local service center, and I was told I had to pay SGD340 for a replacement as they do not do any repairs.
    - Decided to call Garmin directly and they referred me back to the service center for a diagnostic.  After a few emails back and forth the same customer agent who wasn't very helpful his email didn't provide a reference number or details of the service center. I did inform the same customer service agent that I've already called the service center and they only do swap not any diagnostic but I guess he wasn't listening again. As the same service center reiterated their same Standard Operating Procedure

"We are not permitted by Garmin to dismantle and check on parts individually, but we can still do basic troubleshooting by resetting and checking if our networks can be detected on our end. If any Wifi networks cannot be detected at all, it is likely the hardware is faulty and you may then opt to do the paid replacement @ S$340 after GST, straps and cables excluded."
The watch works perfectly fine. except for WIFI which is required for Garmin Pay and Spotify. <-- One of the reasons why I got this watch,
It would be absurd to have to pay for a replacement charge for broken firmware which I believe is Garmin's obligation.
For 340, I could actually get an entry-level Apple Watch with working WIFI + Spotify and keep my Fenix for endurance activities
I've been upgrading my Garmin watches for more than a decade and it is disappointing to see a premium model (at that time) fail to have a decent customer support service or better product quality.

Perhaps it's time to look at the next Apple Watch Ultra iteration and ditch Garmin after 15 years. (sigh), started off with 310XT.
