How can I connect the Stages SIC 2 Console with my fenix 6?

Hi,

I changed my spinning bike to the Stages SC3 with a SIC2 CONSOLE, it also has a CADENCE SENSOR. What I would like to be able to, is to receive my speed and distance from the console.

What I've done:

  • I have connected the CADENCE SENSOR (PWR - 23659) to my watch so I can read the cadence of my bike.
  • I have set my watch to broadcast heart rate so I can see my heartrate on the SIC2 CONSOLE.

My watch also sees a Trainer - 60040 form which I assume is the SIC2 CONSOLE. However I don't receive any speed on distance on my watch.

Is there anyone who knows how I could solve this, I would like to receive the distance and the speed.

Thanks for the support.

Jurrian

  • The stages console doesn't broadcast speed data, it only sends HR, CAD and PWR. The speed/distance is an internal calc on the console. I went down this rabbit hole 3 years ago with my SC3 - I know they came out with a newer console.. Your best bet would be to call stages and talk to them about it, they might have solved it by now

  • Thanks for the quick response! I will also contact Stages. Strangely enough it does seem to broadcast speed data to the Stages Flight app. How did you solve it in the end? I am thinking of placing a garmin speed sensor which I also did on my previous pre-console spinning bike.

  • This the answer I got from Stages. Do you know if it's possible to let it do a virtual calculation?

The SC3 is primarily designed to be used as it sits with all the data being read on the Console. It is possible to get Watts and RPMs on other devices by pairing a secondary device, such as your watch, to the Power Meter. However, the Console takes the Watts and RPMs reported by the Power Meter and calculates the speed and distance. If the device that you've paired the Power Meter to (in this case your watch), does not have a Indoor Ride mode--you will not see Speed and Distance. This is due to the fact sports watches use GPS to give you those data points. If you're not moving, it wont give you that data. I know the Fenix series is a high performance watch, so it may have a setting that allows the watch to do a virtual calculation off reported Watts and RPMs independent of any GPS signal.

  • I use the indoor mode all the time. I’ve only paired it with the power meter, I’ll try to pair with the console.  Thanks for heads up

  • Have you found a solution?

I have the same problem of not getting speed and distance on my Fenix 6.

If a connect to the ANT sensor I get power and cadence, and if a connect to the Trainer I dont get anything.

My "fix" is I gave up and just edit the distance manually later XD.

  • Hi, I have the exact same issue. I used to have the old garmin forerunner 910xt and it used to record distance. I am so amazed that this can not be solved through the watch software. Does someone from Garmin look at this post to provide a solution?

  • Not sure if Garmin is looking at this. Are you saying this worked with the 910xt? Happy to try by buying a second hand one.
